Can you folks,tell me if the safe haven rule,is actually in the rules somewhere?
I ran out my 14 hour clock,at a receiver,had to drive 20 miles,to walmart to park.
It was the opposite direction,from my next stop,and I still had a load on my trailer.
I could have lied,and used off duty driving,but did not.
Whats the fine for driving 30 minutes,past your 14?
I had driving time left,and had 4 hours,in the slerper...just didnt have duty time.

are you on paper logs ? ..... You can take a 8/2 split.Or are you on E- logs ? .....

E logs..got me for hos violation..but it magically dissappeared..in the morning.

Fat......although I rarely allow myself to get in those situations.....that is when I'll typically start to mention something about how they didn't let us watch anything but g rated movies while I was in the penitentiary &how he needs eds to be very careful what he says around me because the Feds planted a 2way satellite chip in my eye before I could get paroled....and they can see us now.....or depending on my mood......i have been known to really get wacky&sometimes they'll ask what I was in for&in my best Charlie Manson impression I'll say....Litterin.....and they all moved away on the bench.......

There is no clear cut regulation. The safe haven rule only applies to weather and freeway shutdowns.

What you need to do if being "creative" is not an option is to call your safety department and tell them the situation and have then tell you what to do. If a shipper is threatening to call the cops....well let them...you'll probably need them out there anyway to escort you to a safe parking place.

Air Canada is an excellent airline for travel within Canada. International, you're better off walking. When I was doing some work in Toronto a while back, the smart play was to fly to Buffalo and rent a car. Takes away the guesswork of actually getting there, along with the customs luggage hustle should you be successful. For the western provinces, try to get a connection thru MSP. They tend to be a little better at it than other US ports of entry.

Perfect time to fake a phone call. Just pick up your phone and pretend to start a call like he's not even sitting there. Since you already acted nice, the surly look or the religious zealot approach won't work as well.

Well...I think we will just go with delta next go round.

I've gone through msp before, so I know they aren't bad. Airport is relatively easy to get through.

With that new international terminal though, Atlanta has become even more of a pita.

Headed to statesville, nc...I think I'll need to visit a DD along the way.

Also...thank you to whoever reminded me to check and make sure the bunk heaters work. Apparently mine doesn't. Glad to know now while it's still in the 50's and not needed!
