next time I am home I am going to steal the "aged in WI" stamp
take a week off in CA then deliver
If I do that I will need a list of good restaurants Ogre
look at all the fuel I will save
since I have been concentrating on mpg this is my best round at the halfway point @ 8.1
potatoes in bins for the reload sounds heavy and a mpg ruiner

Well Fat there was a time when running the Coast was a blast....but that was before most of y'alls time&except for a very select few...it hasn't really been worthwhile from a profit standpoint at all this century....but once upon a time.....lol

I would like to go out there and prowl around a bit. I have never been past the hill at kingmon under the wheel. May have a little reefer work in Florida thru Lee at Stuttgart. Their wagon of course but it still be another goal accomplished. And seeing what a stainless spread with red rails and fridge cover look like on the big hood 359 honey hush lol

I actually miss the Left Coast..more the Pacific Northwest to be specific but Cali won't let my truck in anyway. But overall I had less problems there with DOT then Ohio.

pepsi in Columbia, sc out of hours in the dock.

typical good union folk nobody is getting in any hurry at all. been in the door an hour now haven't even gotten a red light. no matter. I ran out of time 30 minutes ago. i'll be their guest for the night whether they like it or not. they're supposed to keep 3 empties at all times. the 3 that came in yesterday are still on the yard haven't been touched.

got a layover paid out of it but I'd have rather done the d/h and rolled on to rock hill. completely screws my trip for tomorrow back up to advance and down to jacksonville

At the Midwest Petroleum travel center waiting on dinner at Dotties.

Had myself one heck of a day. After 5 hours in the dock, I get called to get my paperwork. Turns out they were shorted 21 cases. Since it was shipper load and count and the seal was intact on arrival, they didn't bug me about it. I guess the delay was doing an inventory of everything to find what was missing.

If you've ever delivered to that DG, their rules make most Walmart stores look liberal. You can only traverse the yard in certain rows, traversing the yard in any other rows is grounds for load refusal. You are to park in front of receiving, walk your bills in, then drive around to your door, making sure you only use the correct rows.

Then you slide your tandems unhook and pull forward. The end differs between what the guards tell you and what the receiver tells you:

Guards: Someone will walk your bills out to you.

Receiver: We will call your cell

I only had one copy of the bills. The guards told me if receiving asks where their copy is, that the guards are no longer authorized to make copies of bills of lading.

I got the distinct impression that there is a little battle of wills at work here.

Naturally, the fun didn't end there. My reload was in Goodland, IN, which is way on the other end of the state from Marion. I proceed up IN15 and west on IN124 to catch US24 in Peru.

My idiot box dictates me to turn left onto US24 Business, then onto US 31 Business, which has an 18 ton limit. Smh. So I just stay going on US24 Business which eventually leads me to US24.

I hadn't been to Logansport since my Stevens Transport days so nothing looked like I remember but I was able to stay on US24.

Would have been better to exit off where US24/35 used to go rather than take the new bypass because the exit for US24 goes through 2 stop signs with cross roads.

I get to Monticello, IN and see a sign for a US421 north detour due to a closure. Figured it didn't pertain to me as I'm running US24 west, right? Wrong. US24 and US421 run parallel for a bit northwest of Monticello and US24 was also closed. That information would have been helpful at the other end of town. I ended up taking US421 south to IN18 west to I65 north back to US24 but not before I almost had an accident when I read a 3 way stop as a 4 way stop and pulled out in front of a car.

At least I got loaded quick as the load is only 7 pallets and 2200 lbs. I'm flying.

But US24 wasn't done with me. Got stuck at a railroad crossing and then waiting for two extra wide loads to clear a narrow stretch of road just before the Illinois state line. I was never so happy to see I57 in my life!!!
