That's what people think until they do it themselves and they have to pay for all the gas, tires, maintenance, and depreciation from putting wild amounts of miles on their vehicle. Plus the tech giant that completely controls the rates and whether you live or die in the job.

why are you so obsessed with doordash? why do you want two random companies to merge like a marvel MCU meme thing?

the doordash of trucking is definitely not superego anyways, it's obviously amazon, and most of the amazon rates are abysmally low because that's the POINT OF BEING DOORDASH

It does depreciate your vehicle but every business on transportation does . But if you think about it , a car can last 300,k miles , so even if you buy brand new , you will be able to buy new one in a couple of years as you make a little over $1/mile . The DoorDash model is taken from trucking . But at a scale that is accessible to everyone and not controlled by mega trucking companies and brokers Also tax write offs is also much simpler with DoorDash . You just use mileage as gas is cheaper . Trucking you need to use fuel cost for tax write offs

Can a normal person save up $15k? It might be REALLY hard, but yes, in my opinion, it can be done. I've done it a few times so far in my life, and I've been lucky in a lot of ways, however those were ways that really changed how long it took, not whether it could be done. If you have a CDL in particular it is absolutely attainable. Watch caleb hammer videos until morale improves.

Trucks can be had with $15k down. Sometimes less. It can be done, by a normal person.

What does a car cost? New? A lot of em are $60k. A lot of em are more! The same as a used semi. Does it make used semi money? No.

A new semi is a different story, and operational cost other than the financing of the truck is more expensive than the truck if used.

Don't tell me owning a semi truck is beyond normal people accessibility. It's not. Difficult, requires a lot of care, but it's not.

Let me put it another way. Are there owner operator pilots? Is there a 747 captain out there that owns the $420,000,000 aircraft?

No, even one that makes $300k/year flying cargo in a 747 does not make enough money to leverage their salary into ownership of the aircraft they operate and thus being a business owner in their existing career field. The only thing that comes close is spraying pesticides/crop dusting in general, that one is vaguely achievable.

A trucker W2 grosses 4-6 semi truck down payments yearly. Just gotta keep one of em, and use it.

nah brand new cars don’t cost $60k . You talking brand new luxury cars . Camry , Corolla , accord , civic you can buy for $25k and it will last forever . If you got lees than $20k then Nissan Versa manual transmission is $19k . As for me I am good with a $4000 used Honda or Toyota . It’s the best bang for the buck . I used to live in Milwaukee before and you can actually buy another used car every month or 2 just doing gig apps . It should be no different with trucking

"no need for commercial insurance"? if you use your personal vehicle for business, you need different insurance.

one of my kids did a currier gig with their own car and had a fender bender, wasn't covered as they were conducting business with regular coverage. insurer said nope.

not really needed unless you always get yourself in an accident. It's not like doordash will be asking you if you got gig insurance. It is up to you to take that risk . In trucking it is mandatory and these insurance companies are so powerful they control your livelihood
