I had heard that it was going to be later this year but carriers could implement them if they chose to before they became mandatory

Does that mean instead of switching log books that we just switch trucks?

Man the Government should put a tax on all the whining you guys are doing. Napa Valley don't have nothing on you cats.

I do believe this is called the TRUCKING industry not the SLEEPING industry. So maybe you guys are just in the wrong occupation.

Funny how every other occupation has rules. My wife goes to work as a nurse she has a 12 hr shift. Hr 3 she is tired. Heck she should be able to get in a bed a take a nappy nap. She can just Chart that she gave the patience the medication, since she is using a paper chart. Not one of those electronic charts. Wait till the mean government makes them chart electronically. Then she will have to do the job she is paid for, and not take a nap, but get more sleep when she does get off.

The local Mc Donalds franchise since he's an independent 1 franchise owner should be able to hire as many 10 year old's as he want and pay them under minimum wage. Heck he can even hire adults and pay them what he thinks they are worth. Good ol life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness clause.

Yes I'm sure we never got sleepy on paper logs, and we never pushed it an extra 100 or so miles, and or until we started hallucinating. This is before your 10 hr break was up. This could happen at hour number 3 or 4. Especially if you have one of those overnight fed ex type loads. Or like me you hauled Budwieser and it was first come first serve and you was going to Metairie, La and you know they like to take all day and you have to wait in that longggg line of about 30 or so trucks. So ya if you stop to sleep. Those other guys are going to beat you to the gate, and you will spend your whole break time. Moving up every 45 minutes instead of actually getting some quality sleep.

Yeah buddy it was never first come first serve pushing drivers past their breaking point, or just the fact your'e going home after a few weeks on the road. It's only 900 miles but If I don't stop I can be there in about 12, 13 hours. Who needs that 10 hr break anyway. I got that I'm going home adrenalin. Or that I want to enjoy a few more hours with moma. That 900 mile load is only 13 or so hours. I do a 1,000 with no problem so let me snuggle with moma for awhile. I'll just log it like I was suppose to drive it. Once I get there. But yeah its the Electronic log fault. It's not the crazy HOS rules. Its just that dang recording device that makes me have to take a break and I'm 100 miles from home. Or makes me leave the house early because I'll have to take a 10 hr break to finish up that last 100 miles of my trip. Boo hoo hoo.

We get it; You like big gummint holding your hand. Some of us operate just fine without it, but we understand that there's a bunch that need cradle to grave coddling.

If I understand it right you are assigned a driver number (I did work for Weatherford and they used the IWI system) you could hop in any truck and put your number in and it would tell you your status I took a road test for a company that used qualcomm as well. I believe these would qualify as e-logs
