Some folks are fine and they can have a few drinks and then stop. For them its worth it.

Others start drinking and after 6 they are just warming up. That was me in my 20s. Never drove intox though. But I only got 1 liver so I stopped that. Every now and then at home I trip and a bottle of beer falls into my mouth on accident. Not very often though.

My step dad getting fatty liver helped too. He still drinks wine every night cud he works from home. Worried about him.

Well thought I would update this and let everyone know I passed my CDL road test yesterday, went to the DMV and got my unrestricted class A. I'm gonna start job hunting today. Wish me luck. Thanks for the info guys

To be clear about driving records. This sometimes gets lost. People have wanted to apply 383.51 to none CDL violations. The tables in 383.51 apply to CDL holders only regardless if it is in a CMV or a POV. If you qualify for a regular driver's license in your state you can legally get a CDL provided you have not lost your CDL because of 383.51. You might not get a job if you have a bad history, but you can get the CDL. Let's make sure this difference is understood.

I'm not sure if you wanted to go OTR or not. Try Melton trucking. They're in your area. They seem like a good company and are a bit lenient.if you can't get on there then I would suggest you try finding a local company. Maybe bulk or a belly dump.

I didn't catch the whole thread so this might be redundant, but did @Chinatown help you with any leads?
If not I suggest letting us know your location, what type, if any, driving you prefer (van, reefer, flat, etc.) and a recap of what may hold you back like the ticket and dui. China's very good at pointing people to the best company their record allows.

Well found a job. I'm not gonna get rich doing it but I am driving Class A trucks registered for 90K lbs, I'm driving local (which was something I wanted) and I'm getting experience. The boss seems like a nice guy to. Thanks for the help guys.

If you cant get a cdl because of two alcohol related incidents, one which is over 20 years old, the other being over 10, then the system is ROYALLY ######.

Thanks for letting us know how things turned out. Just remember, the guys here helped you with advice but you're the one that dug down and made it happen.
Pay it forward when you get a chance.

If you can get a regular driver's license you can get a CDL. UNLESS you have had one and lost it based on the tables in 383.51. However, getting a CDL and getting a driving job is not the same.
