Still in the Pine Tree State. Spent 2 hours last night trying to get out from under an mt. No traction to make a get away. Unattended drop yard. The locals skate on it on Friday nights if there's no "roadkill moose" to butcher for excitement. Talked to Tom while waiting for a tug. He took delight in my "rookieness"! Got to the shipper and blew a red line. Bunk heater decided last night was it's own personal off-night. The good news is that I have 2 knuckles that aren't scabbed over today.:biggrin_25523:

If it's warmer than 3 degrees in the "Land of the Black and White Dairies", I'll be right there.

(Dude, I actually fired up the grill for some righteous ribs at my "Homesqueeze's" place. It was freakin' COLD. But the ribs....yeah, baby, yeah!) :biggrin_25525:

    #### lucky you were not in Cali or IL! They don't hire nice cops in those states! Unfortunately with the new rules you will get points whether you were moving or not. I would never let that happen again! Driving for Swift may have helped you, they probably have it happen all the time!

I really hate to say it but I'm going to anyway. Maybe in some way it will help other Swift newbies to know they'd better mind their p's and q's. I don't know how it is in other states but these 2 officers were really down on Swift and some of the things they've heard time and time again from new Swift drivers who've picked up some bad habits in training. I can't excuse my lack of attention to my logs but there are a couple of things that the officers pointed out to me, things that Swift trainers erroneously pass on to their student drivers, that are plainly and simply wrong. Bottom line though is that we newbies have all the opportunity in the world to scour FMCSA regs, etc. "Ignorance of the law"....ya know.

A lot of other states have been yanking more people lately too. Indiana, Kansas & Iowa have been upping their activity.

Well the cops realize to that not just SWift but the mega-carriers recycle so many drivers that you have new drivers training new drivers. So really they don't know any better. It's like the old game of "telephone". You tell someone something at the beginning of the chain and by the time it gets to the end it has been lost in translation. I think you have no business training someone unless you have had 2-3 years of good, safe driving under your belt! Problem is nobody stays at the mega-carriers that long.
