Go OTR. It sounds like a decent company as far as minimum pay, regional, home weekly, etc.
You won't regret the experience you get on the road, plus you will get to add that to a resume for a decent local job in the future.
There are many more local gigs that are going to pay better than the one you are looking at, and you will probably find one closer to home.
If the local is foodservice delivery, like you say, then $18/hr is crap wages. You will probably be hand unloading shipments of food, and if you are doing 15-20 stops a day, its labor intensive.
I need advice to go local or over the road??

From what was described I would go otr. You are too far from the local job to make that commute every day. Take the otr job stack some cheese and comeback to a better local job

plus you’ll get experience backing into the truck stops every night, so when it’s time to come local maneuvering won’t be an issue. I would say stay for a year if possible. Idk if you got a family or what not, but if you do prepare them. Put in your hometime for the holidays and key events as soon as possible and just chalk up the time as a learning experience. After 6 months if you want to go local put in some apps and see where you stand. If nothing good sticks try again after another 6. Keep that record clean and take your time.

Talk to the court clerk. Tell them that you are a truck driver and you will be out of state under load. They will understand. Also tell them to remove you from the pool so they dont call you again.

$18/hr for 45-50 hours per week is not much money and it's a lot of work, and it comes with over 2 hours per day wasted on a commute.snowlauncher Thanks this. -

Do a year with the OTR company, then you'll be qualified for a high paying local job with companies like Estes Express, Old Dominion, FedEx, R&L Carriers. Those companies have runs where you're home every day doing a terminal to terminal drop & hook load.

There is noting regular about an OTR schedule except the rules require you have 10 hours of break time after driving 11 hours and you cannot drive after you have worked/driven 70 hours in 8 days.
OTR and home weekends you will rush to get home and rush to cram everything you/others want you to do done in the 1.5 days you will be home.meechyaboy Thanks this.
