Do you REALLY want to team drive? With a COMPLETE STRANGER? You couldn't pay me enough to live in an 8x8 metal box with another human being!

I'll bet that is the upper end for places like TransAm!

I know I thought about that but ... they pay more and at least there's a split with hours they drive half the time . I know what u mean it's tricky. Being with a complete stranger . But during training most ppl decide if they want to team up with who. Ever they click with during the training process .. so I guess I'll decide then

This is a review for this company but PA not nyc .
ABF is overall a very good company to work for. Salary is good; drivers make around $23 to start then about $27 after 1 year. Overtime kicks in after 8 hours in a day (you don't have to wait till 40 hours for the week). There is typically overtime almost every day. Expect to work at least 10 hours a day. Health benefits are part of union dues and are very good. There is a 401K plan, but no match since the company pays into the Teamsters pension fund on employees' behalf. The pension fund is kind of a relic, but can be very good, especially for those that don't want to or can't self direct a 401K. There is a bit of a leap of faith, however, in that you must believe the pension will be solvent by the time you retire. Time off... employees accrue sick time and vacation, BUT not until 1 year of employment. Vacation is then 1 week at 1 year, 2 weeks at 2 years, 3 weeks after 7 years. You also get paid for major holidays, you get your birthday off, and you get 2 rolling holidays/personal days.

Overall, it is very simple work for solid pay. If you do your job well, management will leave you to it. Everything is seniority based, so the longer you are there the better hours, shifts, equipment, etc. you will have.

This. Roth is not taxed at the back end and has no minimum distribution at 70 or 72 or whatever it is now.

Also this example doesn't offer it but if you ever go somewhere with matching, try to max it out. It's free money.
