I ended up with about 2200 this week. Left out Monday, sat in Port Arthur for 6 hours waiting for my load, got to Miami on Wednesday about 1 pm for a Thursday morning delivery. Waited until 4PM to get re-loaded and went to Chattanooga to drop the trailer on Friday. Spent the night in a roadside park on the turnpike south of Orlando due to being out of hours from sitting and waiting. Spent Friday night at Chattanooga SC. No showers at Chattanooga. Couldn't go to a truck stop because I was out of hours. Had to pick up tires at Bridgestone Saturday morning in Morrison and take them to Jackson, TN to drop at the SC and pick up a trailer there that was heading to Laredo for a Tuesday afternoon delivery. Laredo trailer was dropped on the yard Friday night by a driver that brought it in from Virginia. Made it as far as Prescott, AR Saturday and out of hours again. I finally made it home at noon Sunday. Sorry to say but each week is getting to be worse than the last. This job started out all well and good, but has turned to crap pretty quickly. I'm starting to see what others are claiming about all the sitting and waiting. I have asked to be transferred to the shuttle or combo side.
Sorry to hear that Engine. I hope it gets better for you. I got home around 5 AM on Saturday. Enjoyed the weekend with my family and then got an LTL load last night from CHA to Jackson, MS. About an hour out from the CHA yard night dispatch called and asked if I would have the hours to do an LTL from Jackson to Shreveport. The math added up so I got that LTL as well. Got here at SHR around 9:30 central with 1 hour left on my 11. Before I got here I got a load assignment from a glass place in Shreveport to Laredo. I will pick it up tonight as soon as I am legal to run and head that way for the Wednesday morning delivery. I hope freight leaving Laredo is as strong as the freight headed that way. We shall see.
Good luck...only a couple more weeks and you should be coming in for orientation, as long as everything goes well.
Good luck, Dirt. Hope everything works out well for you. Looks like I finally got caught in an area where freight is slow. Did an LTL from Laredo to Houston last night and my FM says it looks like it will be tomorrow before they can find me something to get me moving. This is what I was used to at Swift. Thankfully with Averitt it has been a rather rare occurrence. This will be my 3rd time in 10 months having to sit for a day if it indeed plays out that way. Not a bad week so far. At just under 1800 miles so the trip home will get me above my weekly average. Running the night road took it's toll on me last night. I fought sleep a good bit of the drive even though I got nine hours of rest yesterday. Took a four hour coma type nap when I got shut down here at the Houston yard. Next load should be in the direction of home for the weekend. It seems like the week flies by and I am home before I know it. One of the things I really like about being home each weekend. That is worth very much to me for sure.
interview seemed to go good. she said they would be in touch. how long does it usually take for them to make the offer?
What's up man, I got my interview on a Wednesday and Friday of that same week I was given the green light, I actually leave this Sunday for orientation
I got the call about an hour after my interview with the job offer but I was told they would contact me by the end of the week. I would hope they will get with you tomorrow or Monday. Good luck, man. I think you made a good choice.
I will actually get to sleep...at night. I got a load picking up here at HOU and headed to our yard at Montgomery, then Saturday morning I will have something heading me home. My miles this week will be right at 2500. The last two weeks before that I've been a shade over 2400. Love these Texas runs but my luck of the draw will probably run out soon. LOL
