I stole from Walmart-misdemeanor-can I still be a trucker?

Someone has said on this thread that I would have been better off shooting someone than stealing. Stealing may not directly have to do with driving, but it does tell the employer about your character. So, I just have to apply to different places, once I get my CDL and see what happens.

 

You forgot to mention a bad credit report and the collection agencies.

 

If you knew how many cold blooded killers have,can,and do drive trucks it would make you rethink your opinions of human nature.

 

I have a class c misdemeanor and have been told the same sh-t, doesn't matter whether you paid your fine and it was 2 years ago.
If I were you, I would just get pi$$ed off, go to the prisontalk website regarding trucking jobs vs criminal records, get a plan and do it, f-ck what these naysayers have to say on this board, I could care less about them anyway because they will TELL ME THE SAME THING.

Let me tell you a little secret.......trucking is made up of and built by outlaws, period. Freight is a pirate business, doesn't matter if it's the high seas or the high-ways, we are all pirates in one way or another. Some of us have college degrees, some have college dreams, it doesn't matter when you bring it down to it's basic element.

I'm from 3 generations of pi$$ed off truckers, I'm paying for my own CDL school tuition at the college, can drive like the devil himself and have a goal to look at 3 offers by the time I get the "A". I will work for 3 years as a company man at which time I will be an owner op and run it profitably like my relatives before me years ago, under my own authority. So don't let these old "Geritol-Joe" truckers and single-wide Nana's deflate your dreams, destroy your spirit or mess with your head. They dont' scare me and they shouldn't scare you either, they're all gonna tell ya some BS to bring you down, but I know better, I was raised in this business and as long as you can drive "like the devil himself", have good stamina and get your loads there on time, keep a neat and updated logbook, don't have DOT infractions or safety violations and stay away from the partying and the spending, then you'll always have a job after your first year of experience. Your a fool. Read all the responses in this thread & you'll see the only one your listening to is Big Rigger. Why do you choose to listen to him while everyone else is telling you something different?

Big Rigger has been out here trucking for a long time, his knowledge is astouding when it comes to the industry. But things have changed since he hauled the first load off the Mayflower in 1620.

A company isn't even going to look at you if you go the Big Rigger training route. Insurance will not permit it. Sure, Big Rigger can drop his company right now & be hired immediately within minutes from another company. Why? Cause he has the ####### expperience.... You have nothing!

As a new driver, you have to suck up your pride & do what you gotta do to get that lisence & experience. Your going to most likely have to go thru a Company sponsored school or Tech school. The do it yourself plan isn't any good unless you have a family or real good friend that is willing to take the risk of paying the higher insurance costs to get you some seat time. Well, since you refuse to use your family connection you are limited on your options.

You want to be a truck driver? A true bonafied truck driver? Then remove your panties. Pull on a pair of boxers. Stand straight & tall. Tell yourself your a Man. Lose your ego. Pick up the telephone. and start calling companies that sponsor training programs.

Now your not going to have everything handed to you on a golden platter. You will have good days. You will have bad days. And when you have those bad days, just remember that your a big boy & tomorrow will be better.... There is only one person who can control your destiny.... If driving a truck is your destiny, then why are you ####### off?

Don't believe half the crap you read on how bad this company is or how good this company is.... Anylize it, but don't believe it. What isn't good for one person, may be perfect for you. Haven't you ever heard that saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure"? The same thing here....

Now.... What company is best for you? THE ONE THAT WILL HIRE YOU, TRAIN YOU, & GIVE YOU THE BENIFIT OF A DOUBT TO GET THE EXPERIENCE!

Funny post...To your avatar I got to see Stevie Ray live in CC,TX.1982 at a brand new auditorium down on the Bayfront this was a month after he released Texas Flood album.When I see your posts it reminds me of that night.

 

Guitarfool you get a couple of thousand bucks together and get yourself to Fargo and I will have you trucking within a couple of weeks.If you ain't too fat.I will do it just to show these squareheads there is more to the trucking lifestyle than SWIFT.Which would be a real truck hand's worst nightmare.

 

Maximum......many of us are not telling him it's impossible we're telling him ways to get it done and that it's going to be a bit harder than it might be for someone without the record.
