I'm not saying you can't train him to be a driver. I'm 99.9% positive that you can & create a better driver then these company mills. Hell, I can take him, train him, & make him bigger then the big rigger himself.

Educating him is not the issue. Employing him is! Do you have a truck he can drive for a couple year hauling freight to get him the experience? Do you think Magnum, Wylie, or Holland will hire him after the Big Rigger training program?

No but right now is the harvest and we got a oil boom and they need hands not good buddies who ain't never ever done anything wrong.Ryder will rent a truck to anyone with a CDL(me) and if I can't have him driving it in one day good enough to get his own CDL I will just let the boy know it's time to start writing songs.Trucking has never been anything other than a form of smuggling and my Dad got me started young.

Like I said.... Training him is not the issue! I have complete confidence that he can learn how to drive a big truck. It's employing him that is the issue.

And that is why I think it is best for him to go to a company sponsored program. A company isn't going to fit the bill to train him if they can't or won't use him!

He wants a job....a career not just a cdl. He's trying to man up and build himself a life as an adult. He needs sound advice not smoke blown up his scooby doo under roos.

Redd, not fair to say "you'll be, much accurate to say "we'll be". Your not immune to what us newbies have to look forward to. It will affect your o/o rates as well. unless you got some resource noone else is aware of. Not trying to start anything but don't for one instant think that anyone is immune from the ugliness.

Redd you should think that because it is what you did.I'm just pointing out many of us have been, are, and continue to be incredulous why anyone would go through ALL the BS you guys did just to get a bad job.

i don't feel I've got a bad job. My boss can be a prick at times, but that is the same as anyones boss! In fact, I was trained in your neck of the woods.... Whylie to be exact & I had to go thru all that BS of contracts, slow freight, & several bad days. But I always reached down & felt my sack to make sure I was still a man. I did what I had to do to get the CDL & road time.... Then I moved on!
