I was told they are getting rid of DEF, could it be true?

Mack already been doing that with no egr at least on the MP10. The MP8 I am driving now I think is the same. Pyro never gets over 750.

    This is a C&P from Volvo's 2017 web page,
Like all of Volvo's 2017 engines, the D11 is built on a foundation of proven, developed architecture that leverages innovative hardware to maximize efficiency. Energy that is normally lost is recovered with standard features including low-friction pistons and a two-speed water pump. A standard hybrid common rail fuel injection system gets the most power out of every drop of fuel. Our reliable variable geometry turbocharger compresses and moves the intake air while providing the correct back pressure to drive the EGR process.

I've overhauled a couple Isuzu EGR equipped diesel engines. That EGR is probably the dumbest idea anyone has ever come out with. There's so much soot being pumped back into the engine I'm amazed that it doesn't kill engine life worse than it does. We actually had issues with cracking pistons on certain models due to EGR valve related issues. It was always a gamble as to how many cracked pistons you'd find when you lifted the head off to do a head gasket.

Getting rid of EGR would bring back most of the power and longevity of the old pre-emissions motors.

If I told ya I pulled your 5th wheel release.... I'd bet you'd check. ;)

But yeah, DEF isn't going away. Not until another way to deal with emissions is crafted.

Well, I'll let you in on a little secret that I heard at the Truck Stop lunch counter about 8 months ago... guy was telling me he had a PhD in Chemistry and he knows that DEF is made from Cow Urine... and cow urine is chemically identical, or similar enough, to human urine that it could easily be used to replace the cow urine.

He was in to a process where drivers on the road could swap out their Piss Jugs for credit towards fresh DEF... thus also helping to clean up the parking lots around the Truck Stop and make them smell better too.

Now I thought about this for a couple months and talked to a friend of mine with a Masters in Chemical Engineering and thought I would run my own independent tests.

Now here is the really secret part.... for the last six months I have been just stopping the truck on the side of the road and relieving myself directly into the DEF Tank... skipping all the cows and all of the middlemen and the profit making, except by the beverage industry.

So far it's been working pretty good.

If anyone wants to join me in the live tests to prove my theories, just drop me a PM here.

    Stay Safe,
    MD

Did they drive for CRST or Swift?

Consider the source,.. evaluate any evidence to back up such a claim,.. then put some ribs on the BBQ,.. grab a cold frosty mug and enjoy life for what it is.

I'm surprised these team operations with 3 drivers in a truck haven't rigged up a urinal in their cab so they never have to pay or even stop for DEF ever again. Has anyone run across one of these systems yet? I've heard stories off poop/pee holes cut in the floor board that put a wonderful coating on the trucks undercarriage.
