If I go buy chains, will it get me out of this whole?

I've done this. It results in frozen brakes.

It will work, depending on the outside temp and how quick you get it all done, and how many cups of coffee you've had.

Some days I could free up a whole truck stop. Getting worse with age too.

I carry chicken grit. It's kinda like floor dry but a little bigger and probably harder. Has gotten ne out of some pretty bad situations. 10/10 would recommend

My company supplies us with (what we call) cheater chains with a hook on one end, you run it thru the two holes in the wheel and hook it. We use zip ties to keep it tight. After you get out, DO NOT drive down the road with them on. It will get you out of most jams!

One snowy night I took my corner a little to fast and slid my front right steer tire into the ditch. Locked power divider and rear locker and couldn't move an inch. I 1000% thought I was gonna have to call a wrecker but threw down two bags of grit under my tires and backed right out.

That’s why I carry a jug of bleach. Splash a little on the drive tires and they will grip and go.

    Update:
Chains are 598.00 plus tax. But could get them Tommrow. I ended up ordering them. Should be here Thursday. For 210 less
I bought 120 pounds of tube sand and 25 lbs of rock salt. And a small bag of litter. I mixed 50% of Evevery thing to fill in the whole in the ice that the tire dug out. Then poured the rest in front and behind both of the single drive drive axle.
Then I took the tow chain and wrapped it in front of both drive tires tightly. In hopes I could slowly crawl my way foward.
Nothing broke but nothing good came out of this. A passing driver pulled me the 3 feet I needed to get back on traction.
All in all, cheap lesson. Sometimes it better to pay for parking then to be creative about it.
