If in California and you have a over size/ over weight permit

I used to into the pier at port smith.. Had a 9 axle had to have permit, police escort and pilot car... 9 ft wide. Or Newport News.. Liebherr was about 200 yards from the freeway. Permit and escort. And the SOB that lived across the street was an escort and would drop a dime on you.

 

Real familiar with Liebherr, 1/2 mile to interstate, the local cop sits right across the street and waits for your front tires to hit the street

 

Colorado Springs and Aurora require their own permit when you purchase a Colorado Annual OW/ OS permit, so, I can assure you that will be for any pass-through or one-time permits, too.

Apex receive about a $28,000 fine last year for not having the Colo. Springs permit on a 100+ foot concrete beam.

 

Along with some of the others that have already been mentioned, Sioux Falls, SD requires a city permit, I believe Rapid City does also, why don't you talk a little more about something that you apparently have no clue about.

First of all... A non-variance CA state permit is $16. That is a permit for legal weight and less than 15' wide. A variance permit is also $16 but my require a $66 CHP requirement. That is, a permit that requires CHP escorts will be $66 from Cal-Trans.

Cal-Trans has a dozen different prices for bridge permits. 80,001 pounds to 120,000 (orange route) is $66. 120,001 to 250,000 (green route) is ( I think $750 ). A purple route can be several thousand dollars to go a few miles. So if a city wants to charge you $750 to cross a street that Cal-Trans routes you on to off/on a low bridge.... Deal with it.

 

It's all the price of doing business. You don't pay for it. Your customer does. That's just the price of OD loads. Try going to Wyoming where it can be thousands for that one trip permit. The whole thing is read all of your permit.when I ran California, I always had an Annual, and an annual bridge permit. You had best have the route and permit book to go along with the permit. And read your permits. As if you don't you could get caught in curfews.. And read your permit. If your permitted under a load.. 10 ft and less width, any over length, or height. In Northern California you have no curfew.. It's in the book. If you go over a bridge, make sure that you aren't routed off the bridge, like this crane company that I drove for, west end of bay bridge you took off Fremont street and went downtown SF. Or like Arizona if your signs are reflective you can go at night in most of Arizona. I think it's about 10 ft or less. Nevada if you request it on your permit.. You can go 24 hours 10 ft or less and weekends. But it has to be requested.
