You might be right.....but as crapy as the company training deal is, from what I have been reading, and there is a lot, it's a great way to get the miles in and experience . Kinda like a stepping stone. If you can survive the 8 month to a year obligation. I'm sure it's a good way to learn about the industry and gives you all the experience that is needed. I'm thinking about taking a $20,000 a year pay cut just to find out. Going through man-opause I think. :)

I would have been a brain surgeon:biggrin_25522:. All seriousness I went to Schneider training some years back and it's a good stepping stone to gain experience and moved on from there. Now I pull a Pneumatic tanker for a small company for the last 5 years, but due to the owner retiring and his son-in-law taking over, I'm now looking to move on from there. With that said, I would do the same over again.

Werner was my first training company.Back then I did'nt care how many miles I received.I was more phocused on getting the exp and stayed there 3 yrs although once I knew their game I was ready to leave before my first yr but stayed with them.My dispatcher talked me into not quitting more then once.Werner really isn't that bad for the learning exp,OTR because you do alot of NE and I can't think of a better way to get the exp then around alot of traffic, tight turns narrow streets, small twns ect.I delivered to everybodys worst night mare.Boston,Baltimore,Long Island. Some good times back then. But I got my CDL thru a college. It was a 3 month course and to this day I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND THEM.

I paid for my own school and got most of that money back as a tax credit.

Thanks. I probably should not have said anything. I don't want to jinx my record.

Same here....I did get reimbursement for 2 years, but now that I'm not with that company anymore I get to claim the balance on next years taxes.

    Nope, no company schooling.

I also got my CDL from a community college, and financed the entire 4 week degree all by myself!!! Hehehehehe

It was no more than the very basics to get the license.

Then picked the company, out of my top three company choices, that had the quickest tuition reimbursement program.

I don't I'd change much so far, except for saying I should have went ahead and got my hazmat endorsement back when I was in driving school. Just get all the endorsements the first time and save yourself the hassle and extra fees later.
