I wouldn't even consider pulling anything with doors after 19yrs.
RGN for me. No appointments period unless it's a crane deal. 99% is drive on drive off equipment, and pays a hell of a lot more than box freight does.
Maybe think of it this way, you can always go from a flat/step/RGN to a box of any kind. Same cannot be said the other way around though.
Tarping is not a big deal for the 4-5 loads a year I have to tarp. It always pays at least $150 to me, and costs me no fuel to do it. Mind, I'm not lazy neither so.....

I hear ya! It's just that I'm use to going to the gym 5 days a week. I plan on taking a few dumbells with me on the road but I don't think that's going to do it for me. I just don't wanna sit on my arse all day and drive for 11 hours at a time.

Pulling doubles or triples for an LTL outfit would be my choice. Reefer seems like a lousy experience in general. Those cold storage shippers are a bunch of crap to deal with. Flatbed seems like too much work for not enough extra money, if you want my honest opinion. You just have to be into that and enjoy the work I think.

 

RGN hauling for a local construction company moving their own equipment to and from job sites.

I like tank work too! probably hauling spring water or fresh water of some kind, I want nothing to do with anything hazardous.

 

None of the above. Cattle is the way to go. "A cowhauler can always drive a truck, a truck driver can't just go haul cows"

 

Id stick with what I'm doing now, chickens. Home everyday, good benefits, decent pay. Just wish we ran 5 days a week instead of 4

 

Love hauling the A&E freight for the military. Pull both vans and flats. Hauling military keeps us out of the big cities for deliveries or loading. Never have to worry about who is loading or off loading, they do it all. Plus I get to work with my wife, she is my team driver, so I never have to miss her!
Actually feel like I am doing something to support our troops fighting over seas.

 

Perhaps you should look into the oilfields, then. It's hard physical labor mixed with driving, and pays very well. My understanding is they need folks badly enough to hire fresh out of school. There is a ton of information about it in the Trucking Jobs sub-forum. Check it out.
