If you know that you are overweight, do you blow past the scale house?

    * I work for a intermodal company that hauls containers.

    Here is the company policy where I work at:

    Anything over 38,500 lbs...
    or
    If we are told to scale EMPTY & LOADED.. and we follow procedure and it is overweight then;

    My dispatcher calls the broker/company to see if they can rework the weight. if the customer refuses then dispatcher MAKES sure with the broker two things:

    --> An accessocial of $150 for "re-routing" aka GOING AROUND THE SCALES added on to the load pay.
    --> A confirmation if caught by the DOT by any chance and given an overweight ticket - Customer is responsible for it.

    I've been told to re-route three times so far at this company and I've been caught only once. ######## randomly picked me off, lmao. I got Level 2 D.O.T'd and I was given a $250 Bonus for a Clean INSPECTION even though I was hit with a overweight violation.. apparently it dosent count on my CSA or the companies CSA on top of $150 bonus for re-routing. Oh, and the customer ate the $1,200 dollar over weight ticket. Lol. GOOD DAY!

    Not to hi jack but when I fill up my tanker, class B truck, and may go over a little I think what if DOT pulls me in?
    So when does DOT really get on your case on weight? Will they say over look 500 lbs but not 1000 lbs?

    Oh when I say over a little like maybe 3 gal @ about 8 lbs a gal so I am over maybe 24 lbs

    Honey, the last time I blew a scale house WAS the rainbow. The day prior my codriver thought it'd be cool to speed through coop - wrong! "Driver, c'mon back!" We got a ticket for a non-existent air line crimp even after I had the truck checked at the border for brake issues. I simply blew the scale off the next day and no one chased me down. Ignorance is bliss...

    Hmmmm.ill bet I'm 2k plus over right now...but knowin for sure would require me to scale....which would require me to trust some truck stop fuel type to keep their ####### mouth shut...which is jus bad idea....but I don't cross scales(Ever)so I don't care....I know guys like me are dinosaurs.....so fear not...we'll all be extinct soon.....:)

    If they catch you going around, at least they are trying...too easy for them to just sit around at the coops waiting for you to roll in, bend over, and grab your ankles.
