I believe it is the end of the month after the quarter, Ie October 31 for 3rd quarter.

Also, this is a rate in cents yeah? So if you fill up 100 gallons you multiply it by .3815 to get $38.15 in taxes paid at the pump from the 100 gallons? Or am I going about this all wrong still?

    Correct.
This is a basic ifta form you file quarterly.
My state has the form on their website.
You fill it out online and submit. No paper.

The online forms calculate the tax owed or credit you receive. You just fill out the miles you ran and gallons you have for each state.

Ok, now I fully understand. I called the tax place too just to double check. I'm not getting a return because its $1.46 lol. I feel accomplished now. I need to amend last quarter because I had no idea what I was doing and paid $626.66

You have to file a return every quarter or you will be fined and possibly disqualified for operating interstate.

Good to see you learned the system and will get a refund.

Here's a quick example based off simple #'s..
Above NY diesel tax rate was quoted @ .3815 so we will use that.

Say you have a quarterly mpg average of 10mpg.
You travel 1000 miles inside NY state.
You purchased 90gals in NY state.
You burned 100gals though while in NY based of your quarterly average mpg.
You owe NY for 10gals worth of fuel tax. .3815x10=$3.82 because you round up..

Do that for all jurisdictions based on their tax rate. Some you will owe, some will owe you. It's a fun few hours every quarter..

Yeah I figured it out. I wasnt adding in the purchased gallons in each state. My states website auto fills it based on the Miles and total gallons purchased but I didnt know to add the next column lol. Turns out I only owed $71.17 last quarter. Nothing this quarter.

Refund from amended last quarter already sent lol.

Right on. Yeah, that's a good chunk of change & I'd want it back!!
Now that you got it down, it should be easy from here on out. I too now use my states online system, which is easier. It never seemed to function right even a year or so back, so I've done quite a few by hand, & calculator..
