Can you truck drivers please stop with the Fast Food comparison, it's one of the dumbest arguments that truckers bring up on the regular..... If you think you get an automatic 40 hours a week at a fast food restaurant then you're an idiot, yes i know some of us in our profession get's the short end of the stick and I'm aware of that, but if you want to get paid for EVERY SINGLE THING YOU DO, get an hourly trucking job, drive for Wal-Mart, or just get out of trucking all together. Geez man
not everyone can go to Walmart, some of those higher paying trucking jobs do require a bit more, I think walmart is 250k miles experience, no accidents, clean dmv etc. Not too many newbies can jump on something like that. You have to put in the work for those usually, some get lucky and find that nice job right out but not many.
You can't compare fast food to trucking. You will be VERY lucky to get 25 hours a week at a fast food place starting out. Same thing as a regular walmart store worker you will get maybe 28 hours a week if you are lucky. Same thing at Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Kroger - you name it - any retail or fast food job is going to give you 25 hours a week or so. And you WILL NOT be able to work two fast food or two retail jobs at the same time either because they will schedule you all over the map and it will be impossible to work two jobs to make ends meet. The two can not be compared in any way.
1500 miles times .30 cents a mile is 450 dollars a week. There aren't any fast food or retail workers making that every week even. .25 cents a mile is 375 a week, they aren't making that either. 7.50 times 25 hours a week is 187 dollars a week. But it's a free country - supposedly - so if you want to go work at Burger King or Lowes or whatever, more power to you brother.
with all the trucks i see sitting parked at pheonix terminal, i wonder if therems any freight going out lol. guess i got lucky with this 235 mile run to caleico ca. see how long it takes to gewt out of here lol.
