OK, you have made your decision. That in itself must be a huge load off your mind. You have read all the stuff about SWIFT. So nothing should come as a surprise to you. So ignore all the negative comments, get out there and do your job.

    Good luck man.

Thanks for the well wishes everybody!

Yeah having made my decision, it does take a huge load off my mind. I've read up a ton on this company so I know what to expect to the extent one can who *reads* about it.

I'm still going to read as much as I possibly can before I get to my orientation. But man, I really don't have a lot of time left, and tomorrow is likely to be an extremely busy day!

I'm still not done with all of the packing I need to do. I'm not only packing for the next 6 weeks, I'm packing for when I get my own truck. That's because I plan to have my home time in Colorado and will have limited opportunity to get back to PA. That's also why I really need to get finger printing done tomorrow amongst other things.

I'm pretty excited but I also can't wrap my head around the fact that this is really happening. I hope my driving skills aren't too rusty, it's not like I was God's gift to trucking with only about 450 miles behind my belt.

    Thanks Wedge,

I wish you the best as well. I'm going to play catch up and read some of the posts you've created. I intend to try to post more if possible, but I think the next few days will be very busy for me. We'll see!

    Wedge Thanks this.

Good luck, i am so happy for you, I can almost "hear" your relief, to have a plan and a next goal!

Sincere best wishes. (for what it is worth....I personally think you made an excellent choice, considering your options.) I can only look forward to reading what you say one year from now. I seriously think you have made a very huge step forward!

ORG- Yeah for you!! Keep us up to date as much as you can when you start training! It may be hard cuz you will probably be tired but I can't wait to hear how you feel when you get out there!!

To all the nay sayers on this thread- as ORG says see his thread ''help a trucker wannbe out'' under the Questions from New Drivers. The thread is very extensive and follows ORG from his decision to look into get his CDL, where to go, expectations of jobs/pay, school, the apps process and to getting a job at Swift. It is a great read to follow his process and thinking despite all the negative responses about pay and his family not being home etc and his reaction to all of that. I have been with ORG since the start of that thread and can say it has been a pleasure to watch him move through this process!! So many newbies have also followed along and some regular TTR members!! It's a great read!!

Thanks, I'm glad you felt I made the best decision! It does seem like either Swift or Schneider would have been the best pick for me given their nation-wide shipping. You're right, I feel like a huge load is off of me. Now I get to move forward and do what I've wanted to do for a long time.

I'll keep you up-to-date as much as I can. I need to see if I'm going to have my laptop handy. I'll have to play that by ear. If I get a mentor who reminds me of the movie "Deliverence", I'll leave the laptop. Otherwise, I'll hopefully be able to take it.
