I would not say mine is a professional installation. Its just sitting on the floor. Not bolted down. The microwave has Gorilla tape holding it down on the fridge to keep it from going anywhere. So redneck,.. LOL The entire top bunk was full of stuff that could kill you if the truck was ever in a wreck. Window AC, Walmart tubs full of tools and stuff. Cases of soda and water. Hurst
My mistake. I looked at the photo and thought I saw a bracket attaching the microwave to the chassis of the fridge.
Bracket back there was for the old cabinet. I used to wrap a bungee cord around the door and back to that bracket to keep the door from swinging open when it was full of soda, mayo, ketchup, eggs etc etc. Nothing like almost wrecking your truck trying to reach back there to close the door while your driving,.. doh. LOL Hurst
That’s why I have 3 inverters Pilot was practically giving them away due to new design a few yrs back.I like the idea of having anyway if 1 quits on me.A 1500w hope to run micro or coffee one at time and 1000w for little fridge. 600w for cheap TV .Those 12v are usually $500 + even through 2 of them Avg life 3 or 4 yrs. Any of them quit throw away buy a new one.Readily avail.
I see window unit better than portable I had a 800 w portable running off 2000 sine inv/ gen only good up to a certain point Ok at night
$2000.00 Honda EU3000is. It will run everything all together,.. 15 - 20 hrs and whisper quiet compared to those fart cannons people call diesel APU's. Hurst
Not really. They make ones with bigger freezers. My current one is YUGE! I don’t buy food on the road at all. I stock up with cooked meals from home weekly and stop by the Wallyworld about once a week. It’s been years since I ran an AC dorm fridge off an inverter but they get cheaper and cheaper so I wonder how long they’ll last in a rough riding truck. How long has yours lasted?
Current fridge in the Columbia has been going good for almost 4 yrs now. I have a GE here in the KW,.. but its only 1 yr old so too soon to say good or bad. I've yet to see any 12v truck fridge,.. anywhere with a freezer as large as these. Being home weekly I would not be as concerned either. But I can be out here 4 - 8 weeks easily,.. more if I'm trying to cash in on the current market. I'm stopping in walmarts on a weekly basis. Hurst
Our Volvo has bolts sticking out of the floor where the old cabinets went. I ended up welding together a bracket that connects the fridge to the floor, and used ratchet straps to the floor and wall to reduce vibration. It's gone 100,000 miles so far with no issues.
