I don't consider you a failure. A failure would be sitting on the sideline 6 months ago wondering how successful you COULD have been had you taken a chance.

I dont want to come accross like I am "arm chair quarterbacking" your actions, however, hindsight is 20/20. If you are able to learn and take away anything at all regarding this setback, you are a better trucker today than you were yesterday. I personnally admire your steadfast determination to succeed in an industry (like MM has indicated) will chew a man up and spit him out (or words to that effect).

I am especially impressed that you are still able to take something away from all the naysayers (read: BTCINC, HKP2, and the other slack ###'s).

Its guys like you, MM, 5Mouths, AMPM, dino, Wheathaluler....and all the others who stick it out through thick and thin that are people that I personnally admire. To me...success is not always about money (although its an evil necessity).

That is why I said second hand stores, the one we use to have here had piles of stuff usually from Estate auctions. Most of it was old, but occasionally they would get a decent set of sockets/wrenches here or there. Had to fix a fuel pump on an S-10 blazer with tools from one of those stores years ago. It sucked when I guessed the wrong wrench size!

 

fratsit on my behalf thank youfor your compliment,it aint easy but then again when has life been easy,????its all in what you make it ,your drive and motovation,and positivity,and hopeing the money is there too,that seems to make things go goodlol but iv been down this road yrs ago with a differnt set of rules,the games the same just some of the rule have changed over the yrs, i learne 3 major things come to play when your a trucker,1) be a buisness man,2)a safe driver3) part mechanic, if you can do all these things you can save alot of money andmake a liveing,not become rich but make a decent liveing ,,,,,,its better than unemployment right now

 

ok for the good news ,just got off the phone with a good friend thats a 1 st rate diesel mech and told him about my nervous night mare ith this oil leak buy the turbo,he said first keep an eye on my oil,these detroits are noted after a rebuild for it to take a few thousand miles for te rings to seat,all im getting is some oil thats getting past the rings,i checked the turbo out today and the bearings are tight and all the impellers are there,,whewwwwww but have to keep an eyeball on it

 

I still say your using more oil then I'd expect to see from a fresh rebuild. Did they put a reman head on the motor? there is MANY levels of rebuilds ya know I've got 20k miles on this motor since I bought it. 480k total and I haven't used a gallon of oil yet. and i'm 5k over on my oil change interval

 

Pharm, hang in there brother! Remember, I'm only a couple of miles from your AO, and I have a few tools, some auto knowledge that may lend over to helping turn wrenches on your truck, and plenty of FREE elbow grease if you need it.

Fact is, I'm living my truck driving life vicariously through you for the time being. The smell of diesel still gets me horny so it's not a matter of if, but when I return to the road.

I have to say that you have much MUCH bigger "jewels" than I do by going it like you did. I (we) benefitted by learning from your mistakes, as bad as that seems, but it has been a good free education for me and others as well.

Seriously though, if you need some elbow grease and a wrench turner, I'll be at your disposal on weekends starting the 19th.

 

Yep, I have some mechanical ability. I've rebuilt a car engine or two in my time, do all my own work on my two BMW's, and used to do bodywork and painting in college for giggles. Hell, I've even completely restored two old cars, one a 1972 2002, the other a 76 Nova. I'm not an expert by any means, but I love fixin stuff.



And I'm totally serious about the wrench turning. I could only stand to learn a little more and I might even get a free Grape Nehi out of it and maybe get to unload that SunDrop THAT I'VE BEEN HOLDING FOR YOU ALL #### SUMMER!!!
