Hey, thanks. From all the comments in here it sounds as though it won't be a huge issue, which is reassuring.
Insurance lapse an issue to get hired?

I don't know about your particular state, but New Mexico allows you to get a copy of your MVR free of charge in person at any state office, you might check into that to see if the suspension is listed.
Many years ago, before I had a CDL, I had had some huge financial problems and had an issue similar to yours. Long story short, my license was suspended, I ended up paying to have it reinstated and it never showed up on my MVR. When the state pulls my complete file that dates back to when I got my first drivers license in 1995, that suspension is never listed, but everything else is. -
I'm going to have to address this in the next 2 to 4 weeks as I hope to have finalized my decision on where I will train for the CDL and to an extent, have an idea of companies and routes that may be available in my area. Or at least the routes they promise will be in my area. -

It might help if you could get a copy with the notes about the suspension. You didn't mention how long it has been since the suspension. That could also be a factor. But, if what you are saying is correct, I don't see it as being an issue. If you have a copy of your mvr, you could send it to any recruiter who requests it so that they are aware of what they are dealing with in your situation. For your information, most companies only go back 3 years on an mvr.

- Find out through MVD about having it removed.
- Be honest. Note the suspension and provide the reason why.
- Lie about the suspension and hope it doesn't show up when the company runs a MVR check.
Failing that, just be truthful about the circumstances. Unfortunately, some carriers will automatically discard any applications that indicate a suspension or revocation regardless of the reason. Other carriers will go on a case by case basis and someone, usually a recruiter, will ask you about the suspension. Again, non-driving related reason, so they shouldn't see it as a problem, especially if you don't have any accidents or citations on your record as well.
Finally, there's the "lie about it and hope it doesn't show up" route. I don't really recommend this one for obvious reasons. It can, and likely will, come back to bite you in the rear end when a carrier checks your MVR.
Overall, I wouldn't be too worried about it. As I said, some carriers will disqualify you on the spot for a suspension, but most of them will normally take the time to talk with you about it and find out the specifics. -

There are two ways the question about a suspension will be worded on an application:
"Has your license been suspended Or revoked in the last (insert # here) years?"
Or
"Has your license ever been suspended or revoked?"
As my grandpa used to say: "Never answer a question that hasn't been asked"
