Every one of us has had some sort of help. Pay it forward, not backwards. That was probably the first time in his life where he sat at a table with Men. He needed some work on his table manners.

I invited the other guys because they were lease drivers also. I’m an owner op. Where they paid $1000/week, I paid $800/month on a truck with big power and owner op specs.

You know how so many people believe that all they have to do is buy a truck and the money will roll in? This kid believed it too, and signed a lease. We were pulling OSOW, and there was money to be made, BUT to get the big money, you had to be in the right area, at the right time with the right trailer. If you had the wrong trailer, you would NEVER even see the money loads offered. And some of the dispatchers were dirty and would convince drivers to drop the right trailer, so their favorite driver could come in and scoop up the trailer and grab the money load.

This song came out in the 80’s. Terrible song. Tell her about it…tell her where it hurts and she will hurt you. Bet on it.

I wasn’t overfilled with wisdom just fortunate to have spent a good bit of time with my Grandparents and was very fortunate to pay attention. Something clicked realizing they were together as long as they were and had 13 kids with only one having a truly troubled marriage, while so many others around us were falling apart.

Man my fired had that exact scenario happen to him when he leased with Great Wide. He had a money load coming out of New Mexico. I think he went to one of those spots where you need TWIC card. I can't remember exactly. What was unbeknownst to him was that he was picking up a load for a driver. That driver was banned from that facility. That's why my friend had to pick it up first. He goes to the truck stop nearby and waits on escorts. The driver knocks on his door, and tells my friend that he has to drop the trailer so the driver approaching my friend could take it. Friend calls Great Wide, and dispatch confirms that they planned for him to pick the load up for the driver. The escort starts getting testy, saying they'd like to get on down while there's daylight so he's like, "Could you please hurry the #### up?" Friend is wondering how he's gonna get his equipment if he's gotta swap trailers, because come to find out, the other driver was ill-prepared somewhat. Next thing you know, friend looks at the time, tells both of them to #### off, takes the load back to the shipper, got it off his truck, and deadheaded home back to Alabama. Days later, he turned that truck in. He got convinced to go to Great Wide even though he was in good shape at PNS at the time. Nonetheless, he did right by taking that load back, in my view because that was obvious favoritism. I believe that happens across the board in trucking. My thing is, if you need a favor, just ask. I know sometimes it may be a driver dispatch may place above me for one reason or another. If I gotta pickup a load for someone, tell me what it is. I'll be a pro...but to be so deceitful is just wrong.

Billy Joel is truly a legend. It's hard to call one of his songs terrible, but I can't disagree. Lol

I like Billy Joel, but he’s admonishing guys to be vulnerable to their women so that the women can know where to hurt them.

On that note, his song “Piano Man”…John the bartender was a friend of his, but he ended up stealing John’s wife, the waitress practicing politics. And so lots of his songs were about her. And she about destroyed him. He told her everything she needed to know, like the song, and she about decimated his arse.

Right....some of these ladies are dangerous man. Vulnerability from a man, in my mind, is the kiss of death to a relationship
