Rubber components are everywhere. Including bushings on the springs and torsion bars.

Pistons and cylinder walls dry out sitting.

Cold starts are the worst for any engine overnight..imagine sitting for years.

I've bought low mile motorcycles with serious blowby. Motors don't like to sit.

Throw oil in the pistons and let em sit for a week before cranking. If you can.

It easy to sink money in these trucks while they are on the road.. They get a lot of problems when they sit.. Especially for that long . Not saying it can't be done.. But just new tires, brakes, hoses, fluid flush replace stuff that looks bad - easy 10k right there alone just in parts.. That's if the engine and trans is not locked up.. if it been sitting for a couple years hopefully the mice didn't get into it... How much money u looking to spend is the ultimate questions

I’d probably start with the engine. Get it up and running and have it checked out by a professional. Then go from there.
No sense throwing money away if you don’t have a healthy power plant to start with.

The truck sounds solid and would be an awesome truck but as mentioned you’d need to sink a fair bit of money into it. However I believe it would be worth every penny two fold. It would be much cheaper than getting another truck. Only exception is if mice destroyed it.

I appreciate the positivity and it's been parked in the yard in the country and he owns lots of cats so I doubt mice have gotten into it I mean he took care of it I looked inside of it the other day and it looks good for how long it's been sitting

A truck sitting and not being moved is bad.

I remember a company that received a half dozen brand new KW's right before the marshalls padlocked the place.

They sat in a field for 3 years.

They were snapped up as soon as the court stuff cleared and each was a mainenance nightmare.

All of the lubricated spaces, crankcase, trans diffs and power divider, drained down and the exposed mechanism rusted from condensation.

Better to start and drive it around every few weeks to keep the fluid coatings on exposed parts.

There's a big difference between looking good and performing good.

It probably doesn't need half the work you think it does.

I bought a 40 year old W9 that sat in a field for a decade (and was rode hard before it was literally put out to pasture). Put 4 batteries in it and it fired right up. Only air system issue was the treadle valve was stuck.
