It's not so much a struggle getting the weight down to qualify, rather it's keeping the weight off while you're otr. Very challenging. I go to planet fitness 3 x week and do my best, also drink a case of water 24 packs a week.

Stay away from the pizza @loves/pilot it is lethal no joke

Megan, there are hundreds of companies out there, many of their rules and policies are insane while others have none. So you have the right idea, there are others. I tell people don't pin your hopes on one or another company, this is a business and nothing is personal unless you make it personal.

I am fat, but I have no problems getting hired anywhere I have applied in this industry because I've learn it has more to do with your driving record and your attitude toward driving/safety than your weight.

Good luck and hope you'll find a good job.

I'd be more concerned with your choice of companies than your weight; You seem to be looking at mega-losers. If you insist on working for a giant company ,maybe try a dedicated route with someone like Schneider. Other drivers here will give you advice on companies that won't treat you like a number.

Safe to assume and BMI test even the very incorrect height vs weight will be failed if your in the obese category. Low carb will pull the weight off the fastest. I lost about 100lbs in under a year on Atkins. Lowered my cholosterol and BP from high to normal. Best thing I ever did.

What kinds of things do you eat while on the truck? Don't most low carb things have to be refrigerated ?

For the most part. I do a lot of salads with some sort of meat but a lot of times Atkins bars or shakes. If you stop for food you can eat cheeseburgers without the buns, chicken (fried, you need the fat). basically cut out as much simple carbs/ sugars as you can and don't be afraid of fat. When you get near you goal weight you can add back in whole grains again which is nice for sandwiches. The plus is at first the weight loss is drastic. The first couple weeks you can loose 4-10 lbs a week for a couple weeks.

I will warn you if you don't bring at least some stuff to eat, it's usually subway, subway or subway. Seems anywhere that has truck parking only has a subway. A few have heart attack in a sack as a back up
