A state-issued Commercial Drivers License will be honored as valid by ALL the other states and as far as I understand it, in Canada. Have no fear about this. As to moving another state DMV will check the CDLIS to make sure it is valid and to also make sure at that point your CDL as issued by the state you are leaving has been canceled. YOU! Can NOT have more than one CDL at a time. Some carriers will ask about this so be careful to list all CDLs you might have had on a job application.

Some states will want you to re-test if you move there. I do not know about the Road test question, that is something you will need to ask the state DMV where you are moving too.

In the case of the Regular Drivers License, you still have it. That doesn't go away. Think of a CDL as a License that has been "made large" by having a commercial upgrade added to it.

    No idea.

Google Utah drivers license and a few numbers will pop up. They don't open till Monday.

Your cdl will transfer from state to state with no issue. As you should know, a cdl is but an endorsement on a regular class C license. Only a HazMat endorsement is non-transferrable meaning that you would be required to test again for a Utah HazMat endorsement.

I had no trouble transferring licenses from Arizona to Utah, and back to Arizona nine years ago, so I wouldn't anticipate any trouble.

They will void your licence by punching holes in it and let you keep it. Then they will give you a temporary paper licence while they mail you the new laminated Utah licence.

I don't think you need to retest. Maybe the standard whatchamacallit test where they test your vision and sign identification.

I have no direct knowledge AND I have not researched it, but I have heard more than one driver say some states require a driver to do the written tests over.

Nevada only required me to do an eye test at the DMV.
Didn't question it at all; why ask for trouble.

California seems to come up quite often.
