How do you plan to power the hydraulics on a high mount carrier? Put a PTO on your tractor or use electric pump? You will also have to move the 5th wheel back further on your frame rail to pull a high mounted trailer. How old is the 5308? Car haulers rust from the inside out and then it is expensive repairs. Also how old are the hydraulic hoses on the trailer? I think Cottrell runs the hoses inside the lower frame rails so repairing a leaking hose can be a large problem.
Have you ever slip plated a auto hauler? Auto hauling equipment has a lot of maintenance, do you have a place to get inside to work on it? And finally, spray some antifreeze on the lower sliding pieces so they won't freeze up in the winter. Whatever brand of hydraulic hose and fittings the trailer has, source some hose and fittings as leaks do happen and always at the worst time. And then there is the question of straps or chains. New cars usually require straps and they have no slots to hook chains into anymore.Good Luck, you will need it.c.w Thanks this. -
Can you make 15k/week gross otr with a 9 car with your own MC if you have only one truck and drive legal hours?
