Is it just me or are young adults under the age of 25 just plain lazy?

I'm not so certain that younger folks today aren't quite better at finances and financial responsibility than those in my generation.

My children are certainly better than i was at their age, and their friends (many whom i thought would turn into lazy POS) have also done well. I'm proud for them all.

I started listening to Dave Ramsey in the early 00's, when my oldest was about 4, and just kinda got sensible. Way too much stupid tax i've paid.

Overall though (not saying all kids, just in general), kid's ain't been raised right in a long time. Walking back to my truck this afternoon, i ended up walking through a Pro Choice rally behind the courthouse here in Kalispell.

These folks had signs they made themselves, with the kind of vulgarity I've never seen.

Would their parents be proud? Did they care that kids walking by and driving by would ask their parents what those words meant?

I know they didn't. Just like they don't care that service men and women, police, and fire die every day protecting their freedoms.

Good thing is, I know 10x the number of good, responsible young adults, than i know of the like holding those signs today.

I mean my generation (25yo) is worse off compared to the boomers but not really versus the rest of history. Life was pretty bad more than a few hundred years ago. Like literally killing each other level bad.

I don't think a discussion on minimum wage is relevant without a discussion on ,when is enough,,, enough?
Sean Penn once said anything over $10,000,000 was just a waste, yea that was a while ago, but still.

Sorry, I don't believe that for a minute. This generation is better off now than any previous generation.
I guess it depends on your perception of entitlement.

Take a look through the links in the post you quoted.

Millennials don't differ much from Gen X in how they spend their time and their money. There are two salient differences between Gen X and Millennials - the first being the type of debt and the second is housing costs.

Millennials have much higher debt levels than Gen X did at the same age, but that debt tends to be student loans for degrees they were told they needed (again, why does a bank teller or dispatcher need a college degree?) Gen X had high levels of unsecured debt (credit cards).

When I graduated from college I moved to Milwaukee with a friend. We had a two bedroom apartment with a kitchen, living room, and dining room that cost $625 a month. We ate out or ordered in 2-3 times a weeks and walked around the corner to Wolski's most nights. As of last year that same apartment is renting for $1,675. Even if we cut out all non-essentials there is no way Chuck and I could cover that rent on our incomes, let alone save any money. "Move outside the city" you say. Okay, but then we need to drive to work instead of taking the bus, which increases costs by about $20 a day (fuel, parking, etc).

I'm not saying that it's not possible for young adults to be successful. It is, it's just harder than it was.

This spring I was at a corporate social function and one of our VPs was complaining about having to pay interns. He started with the company back in the early 90s as an unpaid intern and worked weekends at a gas station to cover living expenses. That wouldn't work today. Young adults get called lazy for demanding to be paid and wanting a life outside of work.

To start maybe. Nobody starts at the top. If your a smart person and apply your self, you move up. Friends wife was a teacher, they paid her to get her master's, now shes a principal, makes over 80k, great retirement plan.
Cut and pasted, numbers from 2020...

Teachers are treated well nationally and can not only expect to earn very attractive salaries but great work benefits too. Most teachers in Canada, according to Payscale, earn an average salary of $68,321 per year but can earn up to $96,000 depending on work experience, qualification, and level of your profession.Sept 8, 2020

You think $80,000 for a job supervising 20-25 employees and 400+ kids is a good salary?

Better than minimum wage at a comic book store.

teachers pay is absolutely garbage for what they do. A good passionate teacher should clear 150k.

If median individual is 63k (really im just basing this off of a quickie google search, i have little trust or investment in the actual accuracy of who i was citing, 2nd glance, seems individual is actually 44k. Household is 64k.)

That said im not sure i understand the question, median is by definition the center of the distribution
