We get your point. You need to listen to ours.
You've had some good advice in this thread. Instead of beating the same old dead horse you need to decide on a course of action.

I'm not going to give you any advice, You already have plenty. But I'll say one thing...I run a small trucking company and we do a lot of local work. If I had a driver that lived as far away as you do there's no way that I'd let him use a company truck every day to commute back and forth.

Drive your personal car there and back. Then you won't be burning up your clock, problem solved

Sorry you trying to make an argument that a trucking company or any company should pay you to go home after work or pay you to come to work is really beyond ridiculous you really are making no sense

You could do as one of our drivers does...
He lives about 150 miles away, and we do day cab shuttle work.
He went and bought a pickup and cheap bed camper. He comes in on Monday, parks in an out of the way spot, and simply walks across the lot at quitting time. Goes home Thursday (we run 4 12's) and enjoys his long weekend every week.

Have you asked about using personal conveyance to and fro? Or do like suggested and ask if they would have more work for you if you commuted in your car.

So your not being paid to drive home an back but using their truck an fuel to get home an back. Your not putting wear an tear on your personal vehicle. An they didn't tell you about not being paid for driving to an from work in their truck.

Because using their truck and not spending your money or putting that wear an tear by driving a 100 and whatever miles a day in it...isn't exactly being screwed over. Being screwed would be you paying for their fuel in their truck an driving to an fro.

So they gave you a company vehicle, handle all costs an you feel your being screwed? Right.

An then to top it off...you go off on Dave there. Dave is a helpful guy a lot of times. He's also sarcastic, which seems most folks are in this industry. Your either a grumpy son of a ##### who hates everyone, sarcastic, or a former us marshal who has seal team six on stand by. Or got the patience of a Saint.

In short : Find a new gig. You'll be happier.

    You are being raped.

I would refuse to run that deadhead for nothing.

Pay me. Or find some other chump.

How about switching to another job within the company? Like OTR?
At the volume of 1600 trucks, this can't be the only option available.

But those one way situations happened at other companies as well. Drivers signed on for a dedicated run and couldn't get out anymore until they quit.

He can't use PC to the job because he is performing a work function, ie picking up a load. He could however use it going home.

Also since he is performing a work function that is unpaid he would have a tax deduction for uncompensated wages since he is required to log the trip to pu his load.

Find a job that is closer. If you went OTR you would find there are many things you would be spending time on for free. Trucking sucks until you learn the game and work yourself into a goid position.

I was thinking bobtailing to the yard before they technically dispatch him could maybe be a loophole since it would just be a commute at that point.
