Is there a book where you learn to be an o/o?

Because a lot of you guys use fancy o/o talk and since no one wants to create new competitors so they really do not want to share too much info. I assume you guys read a book on this or took a class or did you just learn from
Truck stop stories?

As far as I know there is no book called O/O for DUMMIES but there are lots of DUMMIES wanting to be O/O's and Good O/O's do not sit in truck stops listening to stories

Writing another at the moment out in the desert.

Haven't bothered to read it. Don't ever plan on buying a truck. There are better way easier or "self reliant" businesses to invest in.

TTR is going to be your greatest resource for the initial learning. But you have to have a thick skin. Use the search button and read, read, read.

Once you have some ideas start doing outside research and get real data. Drivers are like elephants. They have long memories. But what was the case back in the day may not be the fact today.

Owning a truck is allot like being married .
You can read all about it but until you invest yourself into it you will never truly understand it .

Owning a truck is allot like sex.
You can watch all the movies you want but until you are in it up to your ears you have no idea what it is all about .

The only real way to know what it is like to be a owner operator is to just do it .
There is no bigger rush than to be pulled into a shop and be told you need 21,000.00 rebuild to make you feel alive !!!

If you want to know the truth you have to be able to handle the truth and most guys don't want to the real truth they just want you tell them what they want to hear.
The truth is that the average driver cannot handle being a owner operator .
The average driver needs to be told when where and how to do his job .
Then when he screws it up he blames everyone but the guy in the mirror.

To be a owner operator you have to accept that it is all on you .
You win or lose with every decision you make whether it where to fuel or what load to take .

Even if you lease onto a company with your truck you succeed or fail on your choices not your companies rates or freight availability .
NO ONE will make you or break you but YOU !!!

That is a hard pill for most to swallow .
Don't believe it just look around and see how many are pointing the finger at everyone but themselves when the chips are down !!!

I make it a practice to never tell anyone they should buy their own truck and be an owner operator .
I also tell anyone that asks that I would never be anything other than an owner operator.

I also never suggest trucking to anyone but I would never do anything else either .
