Never understood why so many people said that on the radio, seamed like no matter where you were or what time of day someone didnt have any panties on. I always came back with well sounds like its time for a shower since your nasty ##### ate your panties.

As you can tell its a matter of personal preference, I love radios its sort of a hobby for me and many others out there, I like having one to pass the time on the road if you can find someone decent to talk to. I will totally agree with these other guys though, there is ALOT of crap on the waves these days, But it really can be a real life saver!

I leave mine on all the time. I want to know if something's about to fall off the back of my truck.

It's not like it used to be. Back in the 70's and 80's we depended on the CB as much as we did the Whistler Bird Dog. But then came Hoolywood and the image associated with the CB and everyone wanted to be the big rigger.

I can think of a few times a CB is very important.

I was once on a small 2-lane mountain rd in WV, and drivers were calling out warnings around some of the bad curves for oncoming trucks, since they had to take up the whole road and couldn't see around.

At shippers/revievers they often let you know when to come get paperwork on the CB, or when it is your turn. Traffic jam info. Backing in sometimes, I have other drivers that can see better give me cues.

But it seems no radio will work in my truck right now. I never realized how much I miss it.

This might be a bit off topic, but where can I get a good, inexpensive radio? All the ones in the truckstop are way expensive and I can't afford that. I'm just starting out in this adventure and can't afford anything yet. I don't even care if it's a used radio, as long as it works.

I agree with many of the posts on here. Some of the chatter can be really retarded, but sometimes you gotta have a radio, like in case of emergencies, traffic jams, or at shippers/receivers.

You can even get decent priced (low end models of cobra's) on sale at truck stops. Pilot has them on sale every once in a while. Get a decent road king mic and you will have a good starter.

Check out some pawn shops in your area. You might be able to find a decent one there.
