I'm gonna buy a toy truck and some Legos and teach newbies how to back up in the J restaurant .

Charge em $25 for a 10 minute lesson. You won't even have to drive any longer. And be home at night.

So far they haven't used any down time to really practice - the teammate just backs up for pretty much all deliveries for extra practice to get more comfortable.

And you're right - my bf is not really a trainer and the teammate doesn't see him as a trainer - meaning he doesn't always listen to the bf anyway. It seems better (in my bf's opinion) to get out and make sure he doesn't hit anything than to try and direct him from inside. Maybe the bf doesn't even know how to direct him from inside, afterall he's not a trainer and only has 5 mos collective experience himself.

I believe the teammate has too much pride to take instruction well so I don't know that he would agree to finding some other trucker and having that guy show him or be serious about practicing with toy trucks. I'm not saying they aren't good suggestions, I just don't know if he'd do it...

I don't mean to shoot down ideas and I'm not in the truck and have only greeted the teammate twice so I don't really know how their relationship/personalities work. But the teammate doesn't seem to be open to suggestions....

They don't have a CB yet. My bf had a small one from before he was a trucker - they just got their new truck a week ago and realized that they may have to drill some holes to hook up a CB - also the bf is looking to a better CB for christmas.

The bf has not cussed him out nor reported the teammate because he does want to keep him as his teammate and avoid probs that would make even more uncomfortable in the truck. Mainly because the 2 of them live nearby so hometime is easier.

Werner made it seem like the bf didn't have a choice - he had to team and luckily he found someone he wanted to team with instead of getting a complete stranger. The bf would actually prefer to be alone, not because he doesn't like his teammate - just because he likes doing things on his own.

You sure burst my bubble! 2 years and I wouldn't say I have mastered it yet.

On the other hand it sure didn't take 5 months to become comfortable and pretty proficient. I would be very concerned about someone who basically can't back at all after this much time. Just the fact that he doesn't even seem to want to do it on his own is alarming. This isn't a business where you should be relying on someone to hold your hand. I don't really have any suggestions but the teammate has to stop babysitting.

You don't have to drill holes to put a CB in . Just put it on the dash with a couple of bungee cords . A while back Pilot sold a box that had a couple of speakers and cutouts to put a CB and AM/FM radio in . It made it easy to get your stuff out of the truck . Sounds like it was tailor made for drivers with companies with high turnover . It's called a K40 slip seat case .
