A question of semantics: I am leased to a "power only" carrier. By definition that means I do not haul loaded trailers where I am picking up or delivering freight. I do pick up and deliver loaded trailers, but do not usually wait around for them to be loaded or unloaded. If we do provide that service, it is at a very high extra charge. And of course a significant portion of our business is just moving trailers, new, used etc drop and hook.
This individual seems to be providing his tractor and his services for usual freight hauling. He has his own hauling rights and insurance. He is picking up and delivering freight. Significant extra costs involved there. For his cost structure I would imagine a minimum of $2.00 per mile given the information provided.
