Is this good pay?? What are you guys making… these are NET paystubs after taxes and 401k contributio

After taxes, 10% into 401k plus they're addition, I'd say that's good money.

I'd figure before deductions you're grossing near 2k some of those weeks

 

I hear you definitely. I think the needle moves some for owner ops though. I don't don't think neither side is one size fits all, but in the case of owner ops, every single one has business expenses so they really have to be cognizant of how much they take a load for. Owners taking loads for a dollar a mile, sheesh lol I have a hard time believing they will last long by themselves. They'll be company driver in no time. OP has good numbers. I'd wager he could make a living on those numbers.

 

It totally makes sense to ask a group of your peers what they think about how your doing inside of a specific job setting. However there are soooooo many variables in this industry and the spectrum of pay in relation to the time /labor investment is quite broad. It is very difficult to assess. Frustrating response I know but it really is an honest one. I'm still working on (practicing) the blank stare I give as a response whenever anyone asks me if trucking is a "good" job in hopes that they don't pursue the query any further. That being said if your happy with what your doing and making enjoy it. If not then opportunities abound.

 

I think your paystub pic is gross not net, because your 401K always taken from your gross pay. 10% of 1400 is 140, so if you put in 140 to 160 a week you grossed 1400 - 1600. Also, your employer match always comes out of gross, so 4% of 1500 is 60.

 

For those reading this as, is it good pay may want to consider answering is this industry standard for 1st year flatbed drivers? Good is a subjective term and everyone will differ on what good is. I am getting back into flatbed, so for the OP what I am finding is that take home pay for regional/dedicated W2 drivers is averaging between $1350 and $1850 for year 1 drivers with only taxes taken out. After 401k, med, dental, etc. What I am seeing is a range of 1k to 1500 after all deductions. With all that said I would say you are in the average pay range of where you should be. In anticipation of the next question and the reason for the first question, I would not be looking to switch carriers right now. First it is coming up on winter some lanes are going to slow as facilities are trying to empty the inventory before they have to pay taxes on excess inventory. Second if you stay and keep your record clean for another year or two a vast variety of specialty options will be open to you. Hope that helps.

 

I used to pay $1950-$2,050 a week gross home weekends so let’s say that’s about $1600 after taxes for a single no kids in Texas. I’ve since sold all my trucks and just drive the one.

Been a long time but I thought I remember 20% taken out roughly but could be wrong.

 

i usually take 4 days a month can take a week if i want

 

exactly winter in coming and running flatbed all 48 can really suck

yeah gross ranges around 1700 to 2K getting paid 100 bucks to tarp adds up
