It makes him a subject matter expert don't ya know. I mean they can realistically remove any emotion from what they will be tasked to do.
It has finally come to pass?? What has? All they did was put the the founder of road safe america on an advisory board . And for those who don't know, he is in favor of speed governing all big trucks. I did not see that a decision had been made on governing trucks. In other words, governing is not a done deal. If they govern trucks,; I think I might re-gear my truck to operate efficiently at 55mph and just follow a Prime truck. I don't wanna spend my days jammed up in a cluster of fleet trucks. Even considered setting computer at 55 max. They want slow? I'll give 'em slow ! Got ticketed in CA for 64/55. After he was done writing the ticket, I expressed my opinion that rolling with the flow of traffic was safer than going much slower. Troopers response: "Hey, if somebody running 80 mph rear ends you, don't worry about. It's not your fault." And shrugs his shoulders while he says this. Up to that point in my career, I thought avoiding crashes was part of my job. I got re-educated. Not my fault. Not my problem. ( well according to this "safety officer", anyway). My new outlook after that ticket : If I get hit following these dumb laws, the blood is on the lawmakers hands, not mine. Run legal first, safe second. ( or third maybe ) . My roadside tutorial cost me $ 275.
You mean csa.. And I agree with you . I think psa has something to do with a prostate exam. Heck, they will probably put something on that too. Gotta cover all the bases.
It is the appointment of the Road Safe guy that I was most referring to in my orginal post, not the speed limiter stuff. It is the concept of a decidedly anti truck individual that has been appointed to a committee in a department that regulates trucks. Y'all just have to get out of your one track mindset about speed limiters and whatnot, that kind of stuff is easy to overcome while still remaining "compliant" when and if it ever comes about. It is the bigger picture here that is the issue. While the article specified that Road Safe was wanting speed limiters, it did not elaborate that it is but one thing they wanted. And if belies the fact that a veteran driver and independent owner of over 20 years was passed over for consideration on this committee while a guy who hasn't a clue what a trolley valve is, was selected.
