This is why Im happy with my 1996 utility CLOSED TANDEM flatbed.............
There are far too many of you guys that dont 'deserve' an aluminum or combo spread trailer...Not enough experience AND you think.."Ahh Im ok,I gots 42k on my trailer..I dont need to weigh it"

Go spend that 42,000 dollars on a new Mack 53 Spread..not only that, but you Learned a pretty good expensive lesson here.

Me,I personally Am Happy with my OLD,Steel 48' flatbed..Its heavy But Its my Moneymaker..I dont need to haul 48,000 pounds for Brokers. Not on my watch.

If I get loads heavy,I Weigh on a CAT,Simple as that. Anything over 40k I hit a Cat scale or equivalent.

Lesson to you guys and your spreads........Just because you get Lazy with a spread, Always Weigh anything over 45k.........Dont Just assume "ahhh,Im Ok,Its a Spread" or "Ahh,I KNOW how to Load it right".....That attitude of confidence can cost you too.

this confuses me. I suspect we are missing or misinterpreting something in that reg you quoted because spread axles come from the factory with dump valves set up on the rear axle, pre wired to an extra 7 pin plug on the front of the trailer. and you can order a new truck with toggles wired into an extra cord just for that purpose. no way would they expose themselves to that liability in today's happy lawsuit climate.

Yea i had a problem in il too they had green light up and all the other trucks rolled thru but about time i ran thru they threw light to red the ahole of officer made me get out my truck walk to back of truck to read a stop sign then he went on to lecture me about not stopping at freaking stop sign meant no disrespect to dude when i asked him could i go put some clothes on then he could finish lecturing me about a stop sign he felt i was gettin smart at him he went on to lecture me about what he could do by this time im really cold i finally told him whatever u say just so i could go get back in my truck and i politely called him a ahole walking to get back in my truck from reading a stop sign . Man that day i didn't feel like gettin dressed i had my pj's on and i had to get out and read a stupid stop sign that everybody else ran before i did
