It's me again, the old dazeroo!

I actually know a guy that went to a Community College to learn to drive a truck. IMO, other than he doesn't drive 60 mph through the #### truckstop, he's no better than any other trucking school wonder trucker.
Its a bout the person, and its about the person that spends 3 to 6 months on the road with them................... after the school.

 

Not true. I had a piss poor trainer. I baiscally taught myself this job. And yet I have had one accident that was do to equipment failure. I wasnt cited. I was the number one driver on the dedicated account I was on. I had the company that we were hauling for begging for me to come back when I left otr.

 

Naples...where there aren't any trucking companies. This is a very wealthy place where the powers that be spend all their time creating ordinances to keep the low life riff raff out (their BS attitude, not mine). That said, I'm not tied down to any particular spot so I could relocate anywhere...I just like Florida because I have a brother here who I adore and am close to that I would like to see occasionally.

 

Is your brother in Naples? I'm asking because if he's further north, maybe you can use his address and have more choices of companies.

Silly question. What is the difference from a CDL school and CDL mill to you? I've always seen the two as the same. Basically 4 ways to get a CDL. 1. CDL mill, 2. community college, 3. company school (swift, knight, etc), 4. just going and getting it.

 

Less students in a cdl mill. More hands on at a cdl school. Better instructors.

 

Thanks. I'd still call it a CDL mill then. Just a better class of one.
And I'm not disparaging them. Heck the school I went to was a 1:3 teacher to student ratio.
A new class every week of 3-4 students. 1 week in class with an instructor, and 3 on the road. The road instructor was with us 3 for the 3 weeks.

Of course even that all they taught was simply to pass the CDL test. Actual experience was to come once hired somewhere.
