    Ah, the whining...

I sat in on a CC CDL class for a few days before I decided not to go after my license...for now. Flew right through permit testing, got into the truck and did just fine starting out. It cost me about six hundred bucks to bail...money well spent. It just didn't feel right.

I have huge respect for my instructor...old-time chauffer's license holder, never took the test, multi-talented guy, has skills other than trucking that would pay six figures if he wants to do it, but he elects to live in a nice rural place instead, and teach truck driving. Salt of the earth.

He's been out of the truck for years (other than teaching and the occasional run).

I had to ask a lot of questions about his situation; he simply told me getting back in the truck would be the last resort before working at the Quickie Mart. He also reiterated the old saying..."the difference between a trucker and a puppy is that the puppy stops whining after a few weeks". Other than that, he had nothing to say about driving.

It's good to get it straight, no sales job and I made my decision on my own. And with the help of this place. :biggrin_25514:
