Change of plans..I dont have enough hours to deliver vegas on time so going to florida with a 3 stopper then back to Tennessee. Going to try to get the holiday weekend off at home unless they have a west coast run with plenty of time on it.

Yes airbreeze...we got steady runs all out west just not enough drivers or hours to drive. Plenty of freight all over as well. Keeping busy and making money..

Got to my delivery bang on time, with 8 minutes left to get to the TA here at Troutdale!!! Since leaving home last Monday I have racked up nearly 4,000 miles driving in 8 days.....and I only did 120 on the first day! Now have a nice quicky load from Portland to Caldwell,ID (chasing my 70!)

Finally.. the end of the adventure at since the mods saw fit to close it....

just a few updates however on the gordonland front for those still keeping up with it.

the fleet manager at indy who was one good guy has left and from what I have been told has been replaced with another useless warm body.

another dm has quit and 2 very senior drivers are leaving in the very near future. And I am talking very senior drivers.

why? One would ask since heartland has not made any changes ( cough cough )

I am glad that greyhound is still doing well but this is due to his changing to the green bay terminal and getting away from indy. I fear for greyhound that those changes may come to his new terminal before long..

tow, you are implying that some kind of changes were imposed on Indy.

and what are the negative changes you are talking of that will come to Green Bay? or is that just assumptions being made..

The only changes that have been made are the purchase of 1,000 brand new trailers, the purchase of another additional 450 brand new trucks with same specs as the last GTI truck order, and some additional freight opportunities from customers due to the combination.

Knew that would get a rise out of you ... lol

truth is.. indy was going downhill long before the buyout was announced. I used to blame it on an influx of celadon personnel running the place like celadon and that may be. Many of the changes at indy were in the quality of people being put into positions as dm, fm and planners who were more interested in taking smoke breaks than doing their job. Or texting their friends or surfing the internet. This got much worse after the buyout.

Perhaps heartland wasn't responsible directly for the demise of that terminal. But if it were my company I would clean house there.. but that is just my opinion. .. I am sure you have some stats that say otherwise but stats dont measure morale...

Yes all that money invested in equipment. Nothing
invested in your drivers. Maybe paid holidays? A better health or life insurance plan? More generous about time off at home? Quarterly performance bonuses? Maybe a paid retirement
fund. Work related disability fund? NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE.

Money invested in new equipment IS an investment in drivers. Think about that one.

At the end of the day you have those who love the company and are successful and those who aren't a fit. Simple as that. But having a few hundred Million Milers, who have driven a million SAFE and accident free miles, all of which were at Heartland, and also 2 million milers and 3 million milers - tremendous drivers who have been in this industry for decades who have made a successful career at Heartland, tells the story.

You speak of people who have been with you for extended stays. That is a unique reality of every profession and I have wondered why people stay in bad situations... ie. An abused spouse and the like. You know it is worth noting that after the civil war ended and slavery was abolished, many slaves chose to stay on the plantation because they didn't know anything else to do.

I believe often times many people stay with trucking companies not because they like it but they fear change.
