Basic simple truth, no way to isolate and protect your personal assets if you have any involvement in the business.
This is brilliant! If I have enough money, Why work? I will stay on the beach and drink margaritas all day long in the company of nice ladies. Every small fleet use them, because you not only get your money fast, but you can check the credit of your broker in advance, if factoring does not approve the load, that means they won't pay, if they don't pay, I don't book.
I understand your reasoning but, I decided I dont need to work for the money if I dont get it NOW. Everything I have is now paid off so I work for what I think its worth and want to get paid on delivery/ completion of job. Sure you could say it looks as if I am starving but, it does not matter. I get what I want, or I dont do it.
as long as you have some money to cover one or two months of expenses plus some more to cover a major breakdown you should be ok.what some guys do is lease a truck and a trailer buy insurance and start hauling and hope nothing goes wrong till they build up some funds:thats a recipe for failure.if your equipment is paid off you already ahead of the game
Can I ask you one more question? The next day I got my MC and US DOT, I started receiving calls from companies, that are willing to help me prepare for my safety compliance, charging $160 per driver. Do I really need this?
you dont really need it if you get everything in order.the first 18 months after fmsca grant you authority is called probation period: a dot officer will contact you and set up a meeting to go over your files.things he will be looking for:drug and alcohol program, medical card, work application if you hiring a driver.logs.dvir.maintenance records for both truck and trailer.dont worry too much about the first audit cause the officer is there to teach you not to fine you but make sure you are prepared.ask in this forum what else you need i may missed something.lot of companies are going to call you offering their services i just hung up on them.
Get with OOIDA to get in compliance. They have all the info you need and wont hammer you with fees. Everyone that calls you is a salesman trying to get your business, They DO NOT work or have anything to do with the D.O.T.
I Believe this are the states that require it....... Different states different prices... I know in Wash. it cost me 275.00.... Oregon is close to the same....
