At the pump today the driver next to me said he puts kerosene in his tanks about every 3 months to clean up the engine. About 10 gallons on a fill up. Anyone else try this?
no, but in the past, i would put some into the tanks during winter. but i stopped doing that years ago. i think it best to use an actual fuel system cleaner, that is compatible with today's engines and emissions systems.
Takes away from the lubricating properties of an already dry fluid. Ask him in 3 years when he puts in New injectors prematurely.
I'm not young at all, but that was popular a bit before "i" even started trucking. Must've been a REAL old school guy. To each their own, however! I'd advise against it. Technology and treatments nowadays, trumps that by far.
Every region is different but here kerosene is at the old levels of sulfur so if your motor is newer than 2007 you'll be causing damage All the tanker companies that I know of that haul jet have dedicated equipment so there's no risk of cross contamination in either direction Ps kerosene jet a and #1 are all the same
I don't know if it'd clean much better than straight diesel. Will thin it out and help prevent gelling in the cold though.
