The only true wealth that any of us have is 1. Friends 2. Family 3. The name we make for ourselves. Pops has a company already established. If I were you, I would channel my efforts into growing the FAMILY BUSINESS. Create a dynasty. Learn the driving partn and slowly take over. Have Pops try to get out and make some contracts with direct shippers. He should have time to do that when he doesnt have to watch over that bonehead driver.

I most certainly wouldn't join the circus.

Drive with a decent company to gain experience and while doing that save some cash to get your fathers truck fixed or buy another decent used one. Why struggle any more than is necessary? Abilene Motor Express hires in your area and don't need hazmat endorsement. Lots of miles running coast to coast and should make some decent paychecks to save for that truck inframe or a good used truck.
    Abilene hires new cdl grads.

I was a little worried when i went to their site and saw the one year requirement. Would it be a good idea to call them about the position even though i haven't even started school yet or should i just keep them in mind until i finish school?

You will have more say if you stick with your dad. Get on with some big outfit and never get any choice in what to do or where to do it. If you hear of something good you can go for it on your own. It's a better life if it's an option.
