There is no conspiracy against you. Jax does billing, the agent doesn't handle that. They do the same thing to us BCO's when the paperwork isn't right. Remember, the corporate workers (any really)couldn't tell you what a fifth wheel is, expecting them to deviate from their flow chart isn't going to happen.
I scan everything and email it in (got tired of paying to use a fax machine). I can move anything around with photoshop and even lift a signature off one thing and put it on another. I have copies of all bol's without needing a file cabinet and can fix something like this in 2 minutes. I've done it so often that I keep an electronic copy of my own signature that I scanned in years ago so I can slap it on whatever they need signed without even having to print the thing out. I figure I've got the fancy phone with the internet uplink and the expensive laptop, I may as well have em earn some of that money back.
You're quick to make accusations but there are some things you don't seem to understand that I wanted to clarify. First, the agent has nothing to do with accounts payable. It all has to do with corporate office in Jacksonville. Second, they are just people who follow rules they were instructed to follow when they were hired, they aren't out to get you. If you submit all of your paperwork correctly the first time you won't have any issues. Check and then double check before sending it in. I've never heard of anyone not getting paid in a timely fashion by Landstar that followed and did everything they were supposed to. It's my understanding they typically pay within 21 days of receipt of paperwork if you aren't signed up for Landstar Savings Plus (LSP), which is the 48 hours quick pay guarantee. I've actually got a carrier that did two loads for me in April that still hasn't submitted their paperwork. They won't return phone calls or emails. We've tried to contact them to get them paid and we can't get any sort of a response. We're hoping something didn't go terribly wrong.
Only thing I can say about landstar is their rates have gone down farther than anyone else I deal with. I've only moved 5 for them since jan. 1st. The most recent quotes they've given me are so bad I've thought about sharing my potted meat and crackers wih some LS driver at the TS. I have actually booked the same loads with the originating broker for more money than they were offering. I hope they change course soon.
Landstar has good and bad agents. Most conduct themselves in a professional manner. As others have mentioned, as long as the paperwork is in order you should not have a problem getting paid. It sounds to me as though you need to make sure that you are giving them everything that they need. I would not pay a truck for a load where I didn't receive the proper paperwork with signed bills. I would not expect Landstar or anyone else to do anything differently than I would do. If you scan your bills into their website, you can check them prior to actually sending them. If a bol needs to be darkened or you failed to get a signature, then that is the last time to correct it prior to pushing the send button.
Well, I almost feel as if I need to scan the BOL paper and post it up on here and let everyone see for them selfs what it is. As much as I want to do that, I don't think it would be a good idea posting that info, but I got the receivor to sign the paper work, there is no place on the BOL for a "consignee" to place his name. I don't know, for some reason everyone seems to think this truck driver is wrong, and Landstar has it right. I've done 1000's of load, and many of them for Landstar before, I guess I should by now know what I'm doing.
I'm not trying to be rude about this in anyway, I'm just saying I would bet any amount of money that I got everything sent in the first time correctly. Like I said, if there is something wrong with the paperwork in paying me then Landstar should maybe call me about it?? Or if Landstar has a problem with the person that signed the BOL, maybe call them about it?? Like I had to wait and call Landstar to find out that I wasn't getting paid for it until they had what they wanted. Funny, I don't know, maybe that would make some people upset with them.
Some shippers are very particular when it comes to the paperwork. Landstar wants to make sure the paperwork is accurate so that they can get paid. It is up to the driver to make sure the bills are signed in the right place so that there are no questions. I have had instances where I had to fax a copy of the signed bol to the shipper or a third party before sending the bills to the broker or shipper so that I can get paid. It is easy to overlook a detail or two when you get in a hurry.
