I remember when they came out with the maxxforce. "Don't worry guys, wont need DEF with this one" Granted, I think the new S-13 is a rebranded Scania engine isn't it?
Former member on here that I speak to now and then has added a one or two trucks with the S13 to his fleet. He seems pretty impressed with them so far, says they pull well and says they burn a noticeable amount of fuel less compared to his other trucks.
From what I’ve been told, yes. The T14 transmission is also a Scania. Let’s see how the partnership with VW pans out.
Pretty small price to pay for not dumping all that dirty soot back into the engine, no EGR coolers to puke coolant, no mixers and EGR valves to get coked up and stick and no extremely expensive VGT turbos that get coked up and seize. According to him the fuel efficiency gain over his DD powered trucks more than offsets the increased DEF useage.
A common complaint with Ram owners with the 6.7 is the turbo actuators seizing up. A coworker had that problem before his was even out of warranty. Leaving the exhaust brake turned on helps prevent that, since I have 145K miles on mine and that hasn’t happened yet.
