Linehaul drivers. How many hours a night do you spend waiting?

this. including wait time incurred by road closures, etc. typically i don’t wait more than about 15 minutes outside my break. once every couple weeks i’ll have to wait a little if i go back through a terminal. most nights are something like 550-600 mi, 4-5 dh. typically requires 9.5-10 hours from start of pretrip to end of post trip. occasionally ill get one of the piddly 500 mile meet & turn only runs and be done in 8-8.5 hrs.

don’t let anyone fool you, LTL life is good.

 

Yes... getting into a nice & cushy day meet and turn with great mileage is my ultimate goal, of course this will take some years... I'm willing to wait it out.

 

$1200 a month difference by a .05 a mile difference?
This post is a huge exaggeration.
And not only is their healthcare free, but it also jas better coverage, no or very little copays and deductibles.
Then you have delay pay. Most get paid for even sitting in traffic.

 

I wait anywhere from 45 minutes up to 2 hours. My meet guy also waits on a guy before he leaves to meet me. Most of the time I have a stop before the meet aswell.

 

We have a day meet that passes through one of our remote service locations in BFE. Our dispatch will often have one of the line drivers stop and break his train to do a delivery while en route to his meet. It's kind of a hassle, but it's the best option for servicing that location. It's usually only a 15-30 minute delay depending on the circumstances.

 

On my run? Hardly ever, I drop hook and go. If I have to wait for break freight to arrive at one of the terminals it's MAYBE 20 mins. If you ask me, that's fine because I do need to take a 30 at some point because I hate chasing freight
