powder joints, thanks . you said what I have tried to get across. just keep yer yap shut. iff ya log off duty, say you were off duty, don't volunteer info. if ya log sleeper fine.

my point was when a real live dot audit man came to my house for audits, they never questioned my logs and the off duty status, ever. off course I didn't sit and say, hey you know I was in the sleeper part of that time , don't you?

    Powder Joints Thanks this.

I was simply responding to the post saying why is sleeper berth on the log if you don't have to use it. My post simply answers that question. But you don't have to use it if you don't do splits

    Powder Joints Thanks this.

This battle is like any other one .
You have to pick a hill to die on I am not dieing on this one .

I had a DOT guy in Arkansas wright me for the same thing I was logging all off duty he showed me the error of my ways .
Right or wrong I just show them what they want to see .

I got pulled in at the West Terre Haute Indiana scale house 2 weeks ago for a level 1 .
The guy was all excited I was his first Marmon in 5 years on the job LOL.
Well long story short I pulled out with a new sticker to show off on the truck and trailer not bad for a 17 year old truck and a wore out driver.

Some battles I will fight to the bitter end but this hill is not the one I choose to die on so I show what they want to see no matter how nit picky it is .

What does that have to do with their validity? Do federal documents have some sort of expiration date that renders them invalid if not updated after a certain amount of time? What I posted is what the DOT is publishing on their site TODAY. There are questions on that guidance document which apply to regs other than just the 8-2 split which means the scope of that particular guidance document is the entire HOS section of the regs, not just the 8-2 split. There is NOTHING in question 26 of that document to indicate that what it says applies only to situations involving the 8-2 split.

Why are you having such a hard time with this? The document says what it says and you've already admitted that your advice to drivers is to falsify their logs but keep their mouths shut about it.

The title of the thread is 'Logging off duty when in the sleeper. Yes or no?'

My stance is that the DOT says no and I've provided proof.

Your stance is that its fine as long you don't get caught.

I've said my piece, you've said yours. Lets move on shall we?

I already said I cooked my own goose on this one. Maybe you should reread previous posts.

do you think if you had answered the question differently, the outcome would be different? just wondering if you think it would have made a difference
