If you wont go to family for help then why would one go to strangers and want them to help them get something for free ?

I bet there are schools that are not 3000.00 close to you . Community collages are for most part cheaper and just as good or better than private schools.

Company training is just slave labor in a pretty package . I would pick up cans along the road for money to get to school before I would sell my soul to the devil for a CDL !!!

I know I know I have no idea what it is like to try to get a CDL today..... But I do know that it makes no sense at all to let yourself be treated like a slave just to get a CDL even if it JUST 8 months !!!

It is no wonder that this industry is in the shape it is in today! We have people come on hear and ask us for help and when tell them the truth they say well I have to start some where or I have to pay my dues so I will just have to grin and bear it !

The truth is you don't have to sell your soul and be treated like a slave just to get a CDL !!! DO NOT believe the mega company lies !!! You can become a truck driver and be treated well and have honor and dignity !

It will not be as easy as following the rest of the sheep but then you be butchered and fleeced like the rest either!!!

The cold hard truth is CRST is a low life slave trader company !!! Just look at the equipment and the company as a whole !!!

You have been warned and told the truth more than once ! If you decide to go against every bit of good advice you have been given then good luck because you will need it !

I just hope that you will not wind up being just another victim of the mega carrier trucking industry! Screwed over burnt out and angry at the world because you have been lied to and burnt at every turn in your attempt to become a CDL holder.

I wouldn't say that CRST is your only option. Just the only one you have found so far. They are a mega-carrier and with that goes along all the mega-carrier ways. Signing a contract with them isn't that big a deal. Personally I would rather be on the hook with a company than a bank or financial institution. If you default on the school loan they aren't going to take your house like a bank will. Plus as long as you are accepted to school and pass you are guaranteed a job.

Which is why I need the company sponsored training. I've called the other big companies with sponsored training but I just got a bunch of no's because I live out of thier hiring zone. CRST called me and offered me a job if I wanted it.So just gotta decide if I want to take it or not.Just wish I can find one other company that hires this far south that I can compare too before I just take CRST's offer

    Did you try Central?

Also you may want to double check but I have heard CRST is only team driving. Be sure you fully know what you are getting into before heading to an orientation.

I myself am from Central Fl, and its true. Most companies wont touch you with a 10ft pole unless you already have a cdl. 3k is not peanuts, in fact its exactly 2400 more than what i clear each month after child support and taxes each month..yes, I said month. CRST is also my only option, and im going to try it out, make my best shot of it, and whatever happens, happens. Too many people enter into something expecting negative results, and then fussing when that happens. Suffer through your contract, and then kick rocks. But you got a better chance of suffering for eight months, than to ever be able to save up 6k for school......

I actually put in a full year of "slave labor" for a mega carrier and netted 38k that year. Hometime was 3-4 days a month. I got my experience in then started working on getting my own truck. I was told doing the contract for a year in exchange for training was a bad idea and my chances of finishing were slim, but I did it. Now I'm doing a L/P through crst malone (their flatbed division) and people are again telling me I'm going to fail and yet again I will be proving them wrong. I'm currently netting double what I did with my first company. You only get out whatever you put into something.

You're exactly right "gravdigr" thanks for the insight and congrats for making it work out for yourself.I think the way I went wrong looking at it was reading all the negative stuff about them which really makes it hard to really see what they're about if their is anything positive about the company which their may be. I'm going to hold off until Monday and really think things over. I also may still have a chance with FFE as well. They hire from Florida but only around Jacksonville and I have grandparents that live in Lake City which is only like 45 mins west of Jax, so I may just have to use their address to possibly get accepted.I don't really want to lie about my address but may be the only way for a different company they have a terminal in Winter Haven which would be the closest terminal where my grandparents live and I only live like 2 hours south of that terminal. So If I was to get in with FFE my girlfriend would just pick me up from the terminal for hometime.Don't know if it would work but I may try.If not then CRST is where I'm going...

One way ot think of it is this. If you own a company, and say bring 100 people through each year, 60 of em make it, 40 dont. Those 40 people may go online and blast your company. Now, triple, even quadruple those numbers, and also, lower your hiring standards, requirements, etc. Those numbers of people going online are going to jump as well. Numbers drive numbers. Yes CRST brings alot of people through, so naturally, there are going to be alot more people upset.

thanks man did'nt even think of it that way. More than likely I'll be taking up CRST'S offer and maybe one day we'll cross paths.I see you're from Ocala I'm from Ocala myself born at Marion County Regional. Hey here's a thought since we're both from Fla and am looking at CRST you never know they may end up putting us together as a team if we get too school around the same time, that would be kinda funny...I'm looking at being ready for school after the 18th of this month...
