So I'm parked outside US Foods in Swedesboro, NJ, and they aren't letting any drivers in because they're so backed up. Apparently the lumpers went on strike!? I ####ing HATE unions....

I always got detention pay after the first hour, so it didn't matter to me.
Grocery warehouses should make lumpers pass drug tests; this way there wouldn't be any lumpers.

Grocery warehouse people don't care; it's all about them. They'll cause you to be late on purpose and laugh about it.

This is US Foods, not grocery.

Why do you hate Unions? They didn't force these guys to strike, the workers have the vote on that, and most strikes today are around contact negotiations. Maybe they haven't got a raise in 10 years, or the company switched to single-ply toilet paper. Who knows, but I guarantee those guys would rather be working

The only time our industry made any real progress is when WE went on strike. What a concept!

My short stint in dry van has taught me lumper services are nothing more than a legalized version of the mob. It's a freaking racket.

Exactly my perspective... They finally opened the gates (3 1/2 hours late) and assigned me a dock that already has a truck in it, and they want me to unload it myself.
Broker prepaid the lumper, waiting on a call back to get it figured out.

I wish truck drivers had the balls to go on strike. But that would make too much sense.
Divide and conquer is how capitalism works. Workers get screwed while the executives get million dollar bonuses.
