I just know if I had to do it over again that's the model I would purchase simply because I could calibrate it before each use. Mfj wants a hundred bucks to calibrate my 259b
Even with an mfj, with trucks, buildings, reefers, inverters ect around you will mess with results.. That 226 looks interesting..Might have to put a for sale sign on my 259b..
Send him over to the "The High Desert"(Hesperia, Ca.) by the Peelot Hi-15 and Jct 395 split. It would put him right under 4,000 ft elevation. I can hear all kind of skips up here. It seems Hard Drive keeps moving west......a little further more from where he is currently at would be BEST
Just reconfirmed. Mfj charging me $22 tax, but no tax with gigaparts. BTW, I am going with the 226, thx for pointing it out to me.
I picked up a 226 at the Charlotte Hamfest two months ago, and it does everything I need except for on UHF. We've been getting pretty involved in GMRS here, so that only thing I can't really do is fiddle with reactance readings and such. But if a radio makes if past my bench with more-or-less flying colors, I just use the Bird with appropriate slug to make sure the antenna is happy. I like that I can save files to my PC with this, and can upgrade the firmware when they come out with new toys to play inside the little wonderbox. 73
